1st off thanks alcfron for this brew. That’s why I love this site. This beer is one of the better IPA’s that I’ve had. Great aroma of the hops. Great taste of the hops, and great finish with the hops. A wonderful beer, a must try for any hop head!

Copper colored with a huge,slow-rising, frothy, head.Excellent lacework and retintion. Aromas of herbal, citric hops and strong caramel.Quite a pleasing aroma.Palate is a bit thin.Flavors are caramelly, toasty, with a big, appealing hop finish. This is totally drinkable and well worth seeking out.Got my first bottle in the spring(wished bought more than one)and got two from Jeff, thanks to Alcfron.Love it everytime.Consistent.

Copper colored out of the bottle with a thick, frothy off-white head and a piney, sharp hop nose. Very much a west coast style IPA. Great balance of sweet and bitter. Nice citrus flavor over a strong malt backbone without that pinching grapefruit taste you get in some extreme IPAs. Very smooth and fresh. It does bring to mind the White Knuckle, but I think this has a better overall taste. Seek this beer out. Thanks to alcfron for my bottle.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 TAR (2349) - Lafayette, Colorado, USA - DEC 4, 2002
The foam is very healthy, yet unusual. It’s got a mixture of large bubbles on one side, and some density on the other, similar to a Belgian I cannot currently recall. The foam subsidence eventually turns rocky. Very frothy and sticky, nevertheless. Unfiltered hazy strawberry. Extremely fruity aroma boasting tropical fruit (mostly pineapple and coconut), interesting phenolic-blackberry-strawberry intervention, leather, candied malt sweetness, peach, bread, rubber, hint of spiciness from the intense hoppage and alcoholic esters. However, the mushy malts are a distraction and lead me to believe this is a tad dated. Very soft and round mouthfeel. The initial flavors reveal alcohol. Then come the bitter orange peel and leafy hop textures, before the pepperish blaze and faint toasted malt bring this to a conclusion. The phenolic notes, which I am finding in too many heavily hopped ales, are too much for me to fall in love with this. After a few minutes away from this, I can feel the alpha acids attacking my rear palate. This is seriously reminiscent of Marin White Knuckle in every fashion. Thanks, alcfron!

Great flowery aroma. Super hopped - but not overdone in anyway. Although not exceptionally malty, somehow balanced. Try it!

UPDATED: JUN 2, 2003 Citrus aroma. The glass has developed head. It does taste like a Washington IPA. Its very good. Right up there with Ruination, Sweetwater, and HopDevil. I really like it.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Rockinout (966) - Kent, Ohio, USA - NOV 4, 2002
Lasting thick creamy head on top of a copper-reddish body. Great lacing. Nose of orange rind and citrus. Lemony citrus taste with hops prevalent over the malts, but balances nicely. Very fresh and enjoyable.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 NeroFiddled (105) - Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 3, 2002
Hazy, although the bottle was stored cold for some time and carefully poured - still OK. Very deep amber (almost brown) with a thick cream colored head that lasts. The aroma is of earthy and lightly citrusy hops backed by a soft caramel malt. It’s full bodied, but with a zesty mouthfeel from a high level of carbonation. The malt flavor is much fuller than suggested by the aroma, and the hops take a backseat in flavor but not in bitterness. A little rough around the edges. The finish is quite dry and hoppy. Overall, a very nice beer.

UPDATED: JUN 23, 2003 WOW! I have finally found a rival to Stone IPA and Hop Devil - this puppy is so pleasantly hoppy, i was in heaven. The color is different from most IPA's I've seen - deep ruby red. very decent head stayed the whole time along with beautiful lace. Thick, chewy malt body is perked up by bitingly citrus hops - 80 IBU is pretty hefty (must be the 5 additions of hops - that seems like alot). I originally tried this beer about a year and a half ago - i really didn't care for it then, but I really didn't like hops then - decided to finally give it another chance and I am so glad I did. This could easily become my new favorite.
