COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Hippie I.P.A. continues to be the Buckeye Brewing Company’s best selling beer. First brewed in the summer of ’98, the “Hippie” has become a Cleveland classic among hop lovers. Reminiscent of ales brewed on the Pacific west coast, the Hippie I.P.A. is big, rich in malt and chock full of hops. American malts are used in the grain bill, including pale ale, crystal, dextrin malt and torrified wheat. It is hopped five times with a combination of Northern Brewer and Cascade. After fermentation, hops are added “dry” to impart bold hop aroma. The Hippie starts at 1.068 and is 80 IBU’s.

22 oz. bottle from Belmont Party Supply. Pours a cloudy copper with the purple hue of a DIPA. In fact, this is teetering on the edge of IPA/DIPA in a lot of ways. Aroma of floral hops, bready malts, orange citrus, and caramel with plenty of floral and vegetal notes. Hoppy flavor, with pine, grapefruit citrus, caramel malts, grass, spices, and more vegetal and floral notes. Medium bodied, with a mouthfeel so full of hops, citrus, and malts this resembles an imperial IPA. That isn’t a bad thing, though, as this is a very good beer.

On tap pours dark amber color with off white head. Aroma is hops with more caramel malt that is pretty pronounced. Medium mouthfeel. Flavor follows the nose and is more malty to me than hoppy. I was expecting more.

Bomber courtesy of phaleslu. Pours a cloudy cider brown with a 1 finger chunky eggshell head. Aroma is big on tangerine up front, a little grass, light caramel, light mineral notes, toasted grain. Flavor is light caramel, lots of grapefruit, mineral, planty hops, and just a touch of roasted nuts. Finishes with darker caramel notes, a decent wallop of bitterness and a lingering blood orange, planty hop fade. Palate is medium bodied medium carbonation, somewhat creamy entry leading to a slightly dry finish. All around well balanced, very enjoyable IPA, I think it could use a touch more carbonation.

Pours an orange color with a large tan head. Has a great bitter hops taste with some citrus there. The head on this beer is absolutely huge and so is the bitter finish. Great beer! bomber bottle

22 oz bomber that’s had a few months on it. Pours translucent orange with one finger cream head with huge bubbles. Some hints of pine and straw in aroma but mostly vanilla and caramel. Really mild sweet tea flavor followed by a slow mild bitterness. This probably wouldve been a bit more in your face fresh but still a decent ipa.

Deep carmel, hazy amber color. Aromas of citrus. Nice hop profile for an east coast brew/ Stacks up to those west coast favorites. A definite suprise to find from a local ohio brewery

Picked up at Belmont Party Supply in Dayton, Ohio on a trip from IL back to NC. Awesome beer store. Lightly hazy amber pour with a 1-finger white head. Can smell aroma of piney hops from 2 feet away. Great balance of a deep caramel/sweet malt backbone and piney citrusy hops. Smooth finish, easy to drink a bomber to yourself. I want more!
