3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle: Burnt orange/Dark brown mix, moderate sand colored head, foamy, settles somewhat quickly, spotty lacing.   Yeasty nose, somewhat bready, slightly sweet, with a touch of dark pitted fruit.   Fairly light flavored ale this is, a smidgen of dark fruity flavors, malty, slightly bready.   Body and mouthfeel are fairly average.   Slightly peppery in the finish, doughy, with other spices rounding it out.   Not complex, but interesting enough.   Thanks goes out to MAP for this rare treat!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cortesy of BBB63. Pours dark murky mahogany/brown, with only a ring of bubbles. Aroma has some banana but some other fruits throwing it off. Flavor has a nice banana kick to it, with some residuel sugar. Rating discrepencies, maybe due to me getting the bottom of the bottle?

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cute label. Very dark. Decent head. Yeast and malt aroma. Sour malt flavour. Overall not very satisfying. Maybe I am still trying to understand the style.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from MAP shared with the shindig at Kuhnhenn: Hazy burnt orange and brownish highlights, minimal head or lace. The aroma has notes of some fruit, bready malts, dusty yeasts, very weak for a dubbel. The taste starts with a yeast character and a bit bitter. Additional undertones of apple, flowery hops, cardamom, ginger, and a touch of oak. The feel is refreshing enough, snappy on the backend. Okay but nothing special, not quite to style either.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark red/brown color with almost no head. Aroma has notes of bananna and some clove. The flavor is not terribly pleasing. The aroma got my hopes up too high I think. It has too much of a noticable alcohol feel to it as well. Could use a little more sweetness as well, perhaps some more of a yeasty feel.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a cloudy, greyish brown color with minimal head. Typical Belgium style aroma and flavor. Not my favorite style, but once it warms a bit it does have a rich sweet spicy flavor that was pleasant. I live about 5 miles from this brewery so I guess I should try some more of their beers.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle: Courtesy of BBB63 at Kuhnhenn’s. Aroma is very light. I can only detect some fruit and some maltiness. Pours an dark orangish-brown with a small off-white head that quickly becomes a ring. Lots of dark fruits and raisin up front. Some caramel is barely noticeable with a light sourness in the finish. Apple hids in the background.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Deep brown color with hints of amber/red. Very little head which settles to some lacing on top. Aroma is estery with some spice to it. Mouth feel is very nice, crisp and rich. Flavor is sweet, fruity, and malty. Hints of spice are there too, although it does not seem all that complex.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
New 2004 release: Beige head w/ a rich brown body; laces well. Head lasts longer after it warms. Light plum fruitiness and some light solventy alcohol esters. Low peppery & clove yeast. Sweet bready and toasty malt. Alcohol turns perfumey after it warms, but other fruity esters like banana, plum, and raisins become more evident as it warms. Well balanced w/ a malty start. Has hints of roastiness and a lightly bitter finish w/ some herbal hop flavor. Clove yeast & moderate raisin esters along with bready malts. Dry finish, fairly well attenuated. Low carbonation for a dubbel style, alcohol warmth and lighter medium body (probably due to higher attentuation), very smooth. I like a more malty style dubbel and this one seems to have a little bit more hop character than I’m used to in the finish & aftertaste, but I still think it’ s a pretty good beer!
