10/28/2014: The Oatmeal Stout is quite nice. The nose is pretty much straight chocolate malt and that also comes through quite a bit in the flavor as well as some black roasted malt, caramel, but finishes with a weird sweetness that reminds me is the lactose sweet weirdness in the finish. Seems too yeasty as it warms. Pretty good overall, but definitely better at colder temps. Draught at the Buckeye Lake Brewery.

On tap at the Daily Growler, UA. Aroma of chocolate and roasted malt. Tastes are along those lines with creamy coffee bitter vibe.

Draft pour at the brewhouse. Pours a darker brown with a beige head of foam. The aroma is full of chocolate, coffee, and oats. Those oats in particular shine in this beer. Tastes sweet and a little roasty. Finishes more on the bitter side, but still very balanced. This was the star of my visit.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a dark brown with a thin light tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, charred malt, bitter chocolate, sweet lactose. Flavor of sweet malt, roasted malt with bitter chocolate in the finish. Smooth palate, light body, good stout.

on tap-thin lt brown-dk brown. A-roasty/chocolate/toffee-med/dk malt. T-roasty/chocolate/toffee-med/dk malt, 2nd fruit hops with some bite, slight coffee peaks through. Occasional. Towards med body.

On tap at the brewpub. Dark beer with a thin, disappearing beige head. Light roasted grain nose. Some molasses sweetness with a little Cola and roasted grains. There is some apple fruitiness with caramel and dead campfire. Tingly on the tongue. Okay stout.

Growler, pours dark brown, pretty much black with no head really, just a thin tan cap, looks still. Aroma is dark chocolate and mild coffee, roasty malts. Nice sweet and roasty balance between the coffee and chocolate flavors. Creamy palate from the oatmeal but it needed a bit more carbonation.

Draft. Poured clear dark brown color with an average frothy brown head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Solid roasted coffee and chocolate malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium roasted malt flavor with a medium dark sweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met.

Half pint draft at the brewery tasting room in Buckeye Lake, Ohio. The pour is blackish brown with not much of a head. The aroma is a nice char roast, along with some malt brown sugar sweetness. The taste is the char, coffee with cream, mineral, and a touch of honey vanilla sweet. The palate is medium bodied, low carbonation level is pretty close to still. Nice roast character.
