4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
I pronounce this a pretty good stout! Dense black and frothy head. Aromas of chocolate, dark fruit and roasted malt. The taste mirrors the nose. It is a meal unto itself!

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
22oz bottle pours a watery, opaque black with some clumping beige head. Nose is chalky, dark chocolate. Flavor of chocolate, malts, bread, more chalk. Medium bodied, chalky finish. Very heavy carbonation detracts from the experience as well.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
pours black with a gigantic foamy tan head...excellent retention and lacing. aroma has some powdery cocoa, a wheaty, malty aroma like the aroma during sparging...faint hint of dark fruit...subtle milky sourness (the guy who rated this before me was spot on). flavor has coffee, dark fruit, and cocoa...roasty in the end. mouthfeel is super creamy and thick yet lively with a nice dry roasty finish...very nice beer!

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
22. Thanks, Mike! Pours jet black with a dense and rather fizzy burnt tan head. Not much lace. Big roasty dry nose, a little chalky and maybe a bit milk sour but not much. More on the dry english porter side of foreign stout and less on the hoppy side. Creamy medium body with soft carb. Roast, chalk, a bit of coffee, and some milky sourness on the mid palate. Mild chocolatey finish. Nice solid stout.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz. bottle from Root Cellar in Cincinnati. I brought it to the Big Black Beer Bash 2011. Pours a deep, dark brown color with minimal visible carbonation and a tiny tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate, roasted malts, some coffee, and earth- basic but really nice. Same goes for the flavor, featuring dark chocolate, roasted caramel malts, coffee, earth and some toast. Medium-bodied, with mild carbonation and a roasty mouthfeel. Nothing in particular stands out about this one, but thatís fine because itís just a well-done foreign stout.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Poured into a pint glass.
3.0 A: Black color. First pour was about 8-9 fingers of frothy head. This took forever to fill my glass up. Retention was reasonably good, but not any lacing.
4.0 S: Smells like thereís a lot of sourish lactose in here. Soft roastiness with even softer chocolate and molasses. Simple, but nice.
3.5 T: Again, seems like some lactose in here. Second strongest flavors are semi-sweet chocolate, roasted barley, and a touch of molasses. Relatively simple again, but not as nice as in the nose.
2.5 M: Lighter medium body. Way, way, way too much carbonation, but this doesnít surprise based on the pour. Itís BMC level carbonation and frankly distracted from my overall enjoyment of the beer. Too carbonated to be smooth.
3.0 D: Not a great beer, but not a bad one either...if the carbonation was fixed.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
My Bottom Line:
Roasted coffee beans and dark chocolate seem to be drowning in a picklish flavor which must be the result of a slowly developing infection.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy veil of foam tops the brownish black.
-Expansive carbonation might also be a result of this rising infection.
-The body was strangely thin.
-This is the first time I get a bad Buckeye bottle. Their beers are so wonderful that this experience wonít stop me from getting more of their brews, if I can get some, that is...

Bomber. Pours a deep dark brown nearing pure black with a nice lasting frothy head. Aroma is nutty, roasty, mineral, dust, leather, earth, leafy- then bittersweet chocolate toasted nuts. Flavor is roast, chocolate, mineral dusty chalky limestone, some light ashy coffee and light herbal hops, Ok. Finish is pretty dry.
