3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 pottygok (346) - Ohio, USA - JUN 20, 2012Aroma: Fruitiness, but faint.
Appearance: Slightly cloudy--translucent?--gold with minimal to no head.
Taste: Light-medium sweetness, balanced by a light sourness.
Palate: Medium body, thick, creamy texture, soft carbonation, long fruity finish.
Overall: The fruit, and its odd taste, takes center stage with this beer. It’s not unpleasant, but a bit too sweet for me. I can see what they’re going for, and it works and is well balanced, but this just isn’t my taste.

21st July 2012 Hazy gold beer, little white head. Palate is light and crisp. Minerals. Mild orange, a little cream in the malt. The Paw Paw is subtle but definitely there. Crisp finish. Not bad but of you going to call your beer after a fruit then why not showcase the fruit rather than apologise for it?

Tap at Buckeye, unfortunately the pawpaw fruit smell is lovely but doesnt translate into a drinkable beer, the nose is good and unique but the flavor with the wheat beer base doesnt meld as well.

651mL thanks to jmikolich. Pours a low haze lighter orange. Small white head. Spotty lace. Nose is a bit toffee, butterscotch. Taste is slight orange juice, small kumquat. Mostly caramel and some lemon juice. Decent. No cloying. Not bitter.

Thanks to gt2. Mostly clear orange gold with ok bubbly head. Nose and flavor marked with bits of weird fruity sweetness, cereal grain, apricot. Average palate, medium body. All right.

Pale golden color with a fluffy white head. Weird floral, soapy nose. Thin sweetness with an odd lavender and camomille soap tastes. Some lemon lime citrus. I’ve had pawpaws before but I don’t get what they were supposed to add to this beer.

Draft to taster at Dutch’s. Looks fine; a transparent gold with white lacing. Smells oddly fruity. Tastes like it smells, only worse. Mouthfeel is average (at best). Fail.

22 oz bottle purchased at Bella Vino in Athens, Ohio. The pour is a lightly hazed orange golden, with a smallish off white head. The aroma is lightly sweet fruit (sort of a mix between grape, pear and maybe a hint of tropical fruit?), a touch of phenol, and a bit of fruit skin earthiness. The taste is light cracker malt, the fruit sweetness, soft and naturally sweet, and a bit of the yeast and phenol in the back. The fruit in the taste is similar to the nose, a natural grape, pear tropiacl fruit sweetness. It’s interesting, and quite unique. The palate is medium to light bodied, a lower soft carbonation level, and the yeasty sweet aftertaste. Interesting beer for certain. I have never tasted PawPaw fruit, and I think my understanding of this beer would improve if I had.

On tap, ABV labeled as 7%. Good off-white head. Mostly clear orange - yellow color. Good splotchy lace. Paw paw aroma is always interesting to me - it’s a fruit I’ve never tasted or even seen outside of the beers I’ve tried that use it. Best I can describe it is like a mix of fresh white grapes and pears, maybe a little passion fruit. Good smooth softer lighter carbonation, texture more on the dry side. Sort of a tart, tangy not too sweet fruity taste, I like it, works well for a fruit beer. Solid.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Dogbrick (6065) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUL 29, 2012
Clear amber-gold pour with a medium fluffy white head that evaporates slowly. Sticky rings of lacing. Aroma of sweet fruit and malt. Medium body with a sweet stone fruit character that can only be Paw Paw (which I have only tasted via Ohio beers) along with some yeast and bready malt. The finish is sweet with a lingering slightly tart fruit aftertaste. Decent overall.

Draft. Poured a hazy golden color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate complex fruit and yeast aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. My expectation where exceeded.
