bkelley68 (468), Lakewood, Ohio, USA Jul 13, 2004 Pretty big nose, with lots of odd, non Belgian wit aromas coming at me. Citrus mixed with wheat, soft banana yeast, and an odd almost rootbeer note. Full bodied and tasty. Lots of flowery stuff on the palate. Gets to be a bit much after a while, though. Crisp finish. Tasty and pretty different. Drew (2377), Kent, Ohio, USA Jun 15, 2004 Spicy citrus aroma - big, but could be bigger. Body is full flavored, wheat and malty, orange peel, lots of corriander and a fantastic peppery finish (which I found out is from the cardamom that the brewer threw in on a whim). The peppery hoppy finish gives this a feel of a Wit/Pilsner. The finish was spicy and lingered with an orange juice sweetness. I had a growler of this - I’ll need more, it’s quite refreshing! (Lisa says the spice reminds her of Old Bay - this would taste great with a pound of spiced shrimp at Awful Arthurs on OBX) kujo9 (1044), North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA Jun 11, 2004 Hazy deep gold w/ a lasting white head (as long as the glass is not just cleaned). Banana esters and orange citrus dominate the intial aroma; light coriander & wheat malt follow. Flavor is well balanced, but has a distinctive orange juice flavor and a hop flavored finish that is also wheat malt, dry, & lightly tart in the aftertaste. Higher carbonation, lighter body, but slightly astringent. This seems to be a seasonal w/ Buckeye and it’s a nice change from the norm. Flavorful and more refreshing than their standard line, but not quite truly Belgian. Not a big issue in my book!
