COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a German-style Hefe-Weizen. These ales are cloudy, estery, sweetish and exceptionally quaffable in the summer. Perhaps you notice a banana aroma; the yeast does that. The grain bill consists of 60% German wheat malt with rest being a combination of pilsner and Munich. It starts at 1.055 and is approximately 18 IBU's. Look for the Wheat Cloud to be bottled in early August as our late summer seasonal.

An inexpensive local is always a good change of pace that reflects the seasonal shift that comes in early October. This one was no exception. A well made hefeweizen it is the predictable experience that you expect form Buckeye after having a few of their beers. It won’t knock your socks off but it doesn’t have to at $4.99.

Aroma / Appearance - The hazy golden body shimmered with the color of a lemon about to go bad. A billowing white head soon settled to nothing. The nose was like the residual water from polishing a slightly dirty tile floor with lemon pledge. You can actually hear the carbonation escaping as it sits on the table.

Flavor / Palate - Lemons, orange zest, and a cool piece of white bread flow across the tongue. Fading by the time it hits the back of the throat the experience is brief. This is one of those budget beers that is a great alternative to more expensive alternatives when the wallet is thin. If you are ever in Ohio pick some up.

The aroma is pretty nice here; quite bananaey, and even some weak bubblegum, and the aromatics don’t have strong pepper or hay, so it is clean that way. Not amped up enough, but what is there is good. The flavor and palate are another matter however. The yeast pour imparts some life, but still this is watery, and actually not very flavorful. The flavor is weak pepper, weak hay astringency, weak baking bread. Moderately sweet, slight sourness. Furthermore, it just doesn’t look very good as hefeweizens go. I wanted to like it, and some parts are OK. And, it is better than many Polish weizens. On the cusp of drink again - perhaps I will seek a fresher bottle (don’t see a date anywhere) or on draft.

golden with quickly disappating white head, a very thick appearing beer and the carbonation is congruent with this. nose of banana over cloves. thick mouthfeel. touches of sourness from the wheat before more banana esters with a nice mouthfeel without much residual sweetness. overall an awful appearing weizen, but a rather flavorful one and well fermented

On tap at Red Brick during OBW. Pours bright cloudy golden with small white head. Low carbonation, little lacing, and medium body. Taste is wheat, clove, and a hint of banana. Above average for a hefeweizen.

Draft sample. Poured hazy yellow color with an average fizzy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate banana, clove and citrus aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a solid sweet finish of moderate duration. Good refreshing brew.

Tap at Beer Engine. Hazy yellow pour with a light sticky-white head. The nose is quite tart and lemony. A bit of very light banana and fruit. Some soft apricot and peach on the back with a lot of bubble gum and fruit. Not much cloviness - but the bright fruitiness makes the beer fairly unique. Nice stuff.

On tap at Buckeye on our way to RBSG. Pours a haze filled gold with a medium sized white head. Big banana and light wheat. Soft wheat, a touch of sweetness. Finishes with a bit of gentle banana and some nice yeast.

Sample at Buckeye Beer Engine. Hazy yellow pour with a thin white head. Aroma of banana, clove and sweet wheat malt. Flavor is overwhelmingly banana with some clove and wheat malt. Good representation of the style, but given that, tough for me to finish a sample.
