COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a German-style Hefe-Weizen. These ales are cloudy, estery, sweetish and exceptionally quaffable in the summer. Perhaps you notice a banana aroma; the yeast does that. The grain bill consists of 60% German wheat malt with rest being a combination of pilsner and Munich. It starts at 1.055 and is approximately 18 IBU's. Look for the Wheat Cloud to be bottled in early August as our late summer seasonal.

Draft sample. Poured hazy yellow color with an average fizzy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate banana, clove and citrus aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a solid sweet finish of moderate duration. Good refreshing brew.

On-tap at the brewpub. Sour wheat aroma, in fact very sour taste, mouthfeel below average. Straw pale colour with lace. I have had more enjoyable for the style, more drinkable.

Tap at Beer Engine. Hazy yellow pour with a light sticky-white head. The nose is quite tart and lemony. A bit of very light banana and fruit. Some soft apricot and peach on the back with a lot of bubble gum and fruit. Not much cloviness - but the bright fruitiness makes the beer fairly unique. Nice stuff.

Thanks to alcfron for this 22oz bad boy. 2002 bottle. This is a good representation of the style, even though Wheat beers are not among my favorites. Pours a murky, hazy grapefruit juice color with no head or lacing to speak of. Aroma of pineapple and other citrus fruits. Crisp, clean flavor is sweet with a tart finish. Again, I am not really a fan of Hefe’s but this is a good example of the right way to make one.

On tap at Buckeye on our way to RBSG. Pours a haze filled gold with a medium sized white head. Big banana and light wheat. Soft wheat, a touch of sweetness. Finishes with a bit of gentle banana and some nice yeast.

Hazy medium yellow hue with a less than average head and good lacing. Highly fruity nose with hints of spice and barnyard yeast. Taste was initially lemony and spicy with a following lighty twangy undertone. The mouthfeel was light and lively but the finish was buttery and muted. Okay hefe but missed the banana esters and wheat crispness I expected. Worth trying once. Thanks Drew for the bottle.

Tap at the brewpub. Hazy neon yellow pour with a minimal head. Banana and mild yeast, lively carbonation. Pretty tasty.

22oz bottle (blue label), no idea how old it is... But it’s probably not fresh. Mildly hazy golden color. Virtually no head. Impressively, still a solid hefe aroma. Banana, vanilla, wheat aromas. Slightly tart sweet taste. Smooth, crisp lighter carbonation, dry finish. Pretty respectable hefeweizen. Still certainly good to drink, however old it may be.

draft at Gene McCarthy’s, pretty much what a hefe should be IMO. Standard banana & clove, touch of lemon. possibly mouthfeel is a tad lighter. Iverall a solid well made hefe
