Black with a brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, licorice and some dark fruits. Taste is medium sweetness, medium bitterness, with coffee and roasted malts, full body, thick feel, average carbonation.

Wow, thanks Santa, this was WAY more than I had expected. Usual suspects, nice smooth mouthfeel. Nutty, dark chocolate. The backend lingers with that burnt dark chocolate taste forever, really a well done brew.

22oz bottle. Good, brown head. Black color. Good lace. Nice, drier texture, bigger body. Ligther, crisp carbonation. Slight oiliness in the aftertaste, but it’s not too bad. Great, hoppy aroma, on a roasty dark malt chocolatey base. Some dark and tropical fruity aromas. Nice, bitter sweet roasty taste. Very enjoyable hoppy stout.

Pours black with off white head. Moderate lacing. Aroma is light with chocolate and coffee. Taste is better than the aroma. Coffee and lots of dark friuts. Warm going down. Enjoyable Stout.

Sammy (6119) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 18, 2012
bottle from the brewpub. Pours black and thickish. Substantial coffee, can pass as an IS. Good drinkability, though the coffee finishes somewhat bitter astringent. The bomber was finishable, though with food. Above average mouthfeel. Coffee roasted aroma.

Pours deep brown/black with a thick mocha head...nice lacing and retention. Aroma is big and roasty with lots of dark fruit...fig, plum...a bit boozy. Flavor follows suit and adds some burnt notes...very roasty, very hoppy...nice bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium/full and the finish is burnt and bitter...very dry and lingering, warming.

Dogbrick (4828) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - DEC 27, 2011
This brew pours black with a medium dark tan head that diminishes slowly to a film. Rings of lacing on the glass. Notes of burnt malt, coffee and caramel in the nose. Medium body with a roasty character and flavors of malt, black coffee and fruity hops. The finish is moderately dry with a lingering coffee aftertaste. Solid beer all around.

A quaint roasted malt and burnt office-coffee nose rises from a picture perfect pitch black body. A tannish head laces well down the glass and a palate of coffee, mild chocolate, and noticeable hops packs a punch. Personally I thought the flavor could have been a bit more credible, as the beer does so many things well but lacks in that "a-ha" moment when tasting. Easily one of if not the best FXS that I’ve had, the Zatek 2011-A is an exception to this oft-overlooked style. Just don’t overlook this brew.

Bomber. I think that Foreign Extra Stout is basically my favorite thing ever, so when it is done right it’s great! Pours a totally black hue with a medium light beige head. A sweet nose of ash, caramel and plum. The flavor is lovely; sweet cocoa and caramel, light citrus hops, some fruit, dry ash and roast. Certainly some bitterness in the finish pushing this towards a hoppy brew, lingering coffee in the tail. Some metallic bite. Lovely.
