The head is full and a bit soapy in appearance. The body is a dark brown, hazy, but showing hints of red. The aroma is richly malty maybe a little alcohol, but it covers that well. The flavor is very earthy and rich, but not cloyingly sweet. You notice a little heat after you swallow and that's the only time the alcohol fully reveals itself, although it does add a slight peppery bite to the flavor that balances the rich malty flavors out nicely. Nice.

Enjoyed this with lunch -made me not want to go back to the office! More like a dopplebock than a Scottish Ale in my opinion - reminds me of Celebrator. No real discernible aroma - just a pleasant maltiness. Cola colored with light brown head with a fair amount of lacing. Alcohol is hidden well until the last 1/4 but by then - who cares! Flavor is malty with a bit of hoppiness to balance it out. Detect raisins and prunes. Overall - an excellent brew by the fine folks at Buckhead.

A huge, warming beer. Very sweet and peaty, with complexities that come out as the beer warms and as the ABV kicks in. Roasty and toasty. Deep ruby brown with lacey head.
