It poured a murky dark brown with a white head. It had a chocolate aroma and flavor. It wasn’t bad, but it was a little thin in the body for my tastes.

Cask at GBBF 2010. A red-brown beer with no head. The aroma has notes of caramel and malt. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of roasted malt and caramel.

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2010, Great British Beer Festival, Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, England.

Clear dark red brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, light chocolate. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, licorice notes. Body is medium, texture is oily and smooth, carbonation is soft to flat. [20100804]

(Cask at GBBF, London Earl’s Court, 4 Aug 2010) Dark brown colour with foamy, beige head. Roasted, malty nose with dark bread, chocolate and dried fruit. Roasted, malty taste with notes of liquorice, dried fruit, raisins, dark bread and hints of smoke. Medium body, with some sweetness. Balanced cocoa bitterness. Nice and well made porter.

Cask Handpump at the GBBF, Earl’s Court 04/08/2010 Chocolate aroma. Dark red coloured a little rich on the palate and strong in alcohol with a hint of dryness in a bitter roast finish.

Cask@GBBF2010. Deep ambery brown colour with small off-white head, that leaves some nice lace. Aroma is liquorice, some roasted malts, mild ashes and some smoked wet wooden notes. Flavour is liquorice, fruits, ashes, wood, some roasted malts as well as some slight chocolate. Mild hoppy bitterness in the finish.

7 Gentle coffee aroma.
4 Dark, small light head
7 Light fruit, apple, retronasals. Taste full and roasty.
4 Soft chocolate finish. A little drying, but nicely woody.
14 All round ful tasty porter - full flavoured, but probably sessionable.

Cask handpump at GBBF ’10. Dark brown. Chocolate aroma. Some sour milk in the taste. Sharp bitter finish. Good.

From cask. Pours dark and hazy brown with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted and caramelish malt. Sweet malty, slight breadish and caramelish. Sweet finish.
