Loads of Crystal and Sterling hops lead the way in producing huge citrus and pine aromatics. Hoppiness is supported with a clean, slightly biscuity malt backbone.

Draft at Standard Market, June. Cloudy amber color, a spongy head just a pinky finger wide. The PNW hops can be easily detected while the glass is still on the counter, growing in orange citrus character. Nose has more fresh hops up close. Taste is an upfront punch of orange juice and pine needles, and heavily bitter. More prickly carbonation. The strong hop palate remains as an afterburn.

12 oz. can pours a hazy burnt orange color with moderate white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma is not overpowering, but full of tropical fruit and citrus, yet with some bready malts. Taste is fruity and almost sweet at first. The malty middle kicks in and adds more flavor before a satisfying hoppy dry finish. Body is medium with average carbonation and a slightly sticky mouthfeel. This was my first experience with Buckledown, which I thought might be just another small local brewer in the crowded IPA field. This one greatly exceeded my expectations, and is one of the better new IPAs Iíve tried in quite a while. Iím glad I picked up 6 of these, and will do so again.

Hazy, burnt orange color with a white head. The aroma has nice grapefruit and sweet orange. It has a medium body with oily texture and lively carbonation. The taste is bittersweet with a slightly dry finish.

Strong malt and hopps notes dominate this beer. Very bitter and hoppy finish. Pours a nice copper color with a thick tan head. Had at home

Crystal and sterling are two hops Iíve always thought were under-appreciated so I am happy to report this is a real nice IPA. Itís a mostly clear orange w/ a waft of foamy white head. The nose has a really nice, soft citrus quality to it along w/ a touch of pine needles. This is crisp, pretty dry w/ a nice snap of citrus rind bitterness in the finish. Itís medium bodied w/ soft carbonation, making for a very easy drinking brew. We donít exactly lack for good, hoppy beer in this area but this is a nice addition to the ever growing stable of quality local brews in Chicago.

12 oz. can. Golden orange pour with a medium off white head. Decent lacing. Aroma of citrus, grapefruit, and light bread notes. Flavor is medium bitterness with nice fruitiness. Medium bodied, lively carbonation. Finishes fruity and bitter. Nice beer.

On draught at the Pour House (Oak Brook) after work with Sojka tonight. Ordered this randomly -- and said drinking buddy/coworker, who always laughs because I ask for the beer list down there, witnessed this... so sheíll back my story: I didnít ask for the list this time, but instead just asked for something sessionable (hadnít eaten all day, was tired and needed to drive back into the city afterwards... donít need the DUI, right?) so the bartender --- who is clearly fucking clueless (and I am a bartender, so yeah, I will most certainly sit in judgment on those in my own trade), gives me this beer (saying itís a nice 4.5% and a big seller). So... nice orangey-gold pour, beautiful white head (lighting ainít real good in the Pour House after all), pine, tropical fruit, white pepper nose, mouth is medium bodied, decently balance of caramel, biscuit and a relative fuckload of tropical and citrus fruits. Certainly a very nice IPA... but at 7% this isnít exactly a ísessionableí brew by definition... which, Sojka my dear, if you ever read this, is exactly why I like to look at the list over there. Theyíre clueless. You, however are clued in, intelligent and beautiful and I absolutely enjoy drinking with you. ;-)

Pour on tap, hazy orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of big grapefruit, orange, some pineapple, funky citrus notes into a bit of biscuit, bread, some caramel, nice and fruity. Taste is a mix of caramel, biscuit, nice orange, pine, funky grapefruit and mango notes into some slight spice, finishing fairly bitter. Nice.

Orange and cloudy pour from draft at beermiscuous. White head that sticks and coats the glass all the way down. Crazy fruity/grapefruit aroma. The hops are amazing in this beer. Taste is a tropical fruit bomb of happiness. Love it
