Feb, 2003: Drunk this with a Foster’s Ice. The bottles are similar, but the Bud has a cracked ice motif around the shoulder that is nifty. Both have blue labels, but the Foster’s has a rather neat Kangaroo, which is repeated on the cap. The colours look an almost identical weak yellow, but Foster’s has a slightly browner tinge. When poured the heads are again similar, though the Bud’s shows itself to be smoother. After a pause the Bud head dies down to nothing while the Foster’s stays in place, a little ragged, but all the more attractive because of it. The Bud has a sickly malt aroma, while the Foster’s has a sweet sewer malt aroma - neither are pleasant, but the Foster’s is the more interesting. Both taste of corn and both have pockets of sweetness, but the Bud has a faint lemon tone, false tasting like washing up liquid, while the Foster’s has some metallic apple. The Bud also has a hint of banana, but the Foster’s has more malt presence. The Bud is crisper and cleaner compared to the Foster’s slightly oily texture, but the Foster’s has a more significant tang. Overall there’s not a lot to choose between the two - they are both almost naked of taste, and what taste there is is mostly artificial and unpleasant. They initially refresh, but the corn taste lingers, cloying the mouth so that you want another drink. I’d put the Foster’s slightly ahead with it’s malt flavours.

Straight up nasty, dude. I drank some tall boys during the Talladega 500 and although I fit it just fine, I still regret it to this day. Leave it on the shelf. If you need a 5.5% beer there are plenty WITH good taste.

Bud ice is one of the better ice beers out there. They should get the Penguin back though.

Pours a clear, very pale amber color. Decent head but disappears quickly. Scent is weak but mostly of grassy grains. Taste is smooth and weaker, but does have some good features that are refreshing and drinkable. Leaves a semi-dry after taste and is decently tasty for a cheap Bud brew.

Original review: 2/7/10. Grabbed a can of this to use in a dip for the Super Bowl party tonight, and decided to finish off the can. Poured into a pilsner glass. This pours a darker than expected gold with a nice frothy white head on top. Retention is zilch and there is no lace at all. Scents of corn mash and sugar. The body is crisp and refreshing, as expected. Flavor is of creamed corn with the subtle sweetness, and buttered white bread. Light bitterness. Huh. Color me surprised. This was actually decent and hit the spot this afternoon. This is one of the better Bud offerings IMO. In a world of light, thin, no-flavor beers, this one stands above with a bit of flavor and body. I’d have it again methinks.

710ml can. Pours with a big fluffy white head of loosely packed foam. A pale gold color, well carbonated with rice and barley aromas is basic. Thin and watery in the mouth with a sweetness on the palate.

40 Bought at shoppers in leesburg. Looks like I just pissed in the glass. Smells like it too. Just corn and funk. What can I say? A half assed review for a half assed beer.
