Bud Light Platinum has reinvented the category of light beer. Within each cobalt blue bottle lies a bold formula thatís triple filtered with a smooth finish to create its stop shelf taste. Its the first of its kind, and the only beer worthy of the name Bud Light Platinum.

Bottle. Aroma, for some reason, is overpowering yeast. It reminds me of a white labs yeast vial. Taste is fairly clean, crisp. Itís all relative, obviously, but this isnít offensive. Top tier of macros, at least.

Bottle and rated on 3-29-2012. Pours a very small white, fizzy head that mostly diminished. The body is transparent, no lacing, fast-rising carbonation, and a yellow hue. The Aroma is some malt, corn and grainy. The Flavor is lightly sweet, some malt, and grainy. The Mouthfeel is tingly and this is a medium bodied Pale Lager. Overall, I drank/rated this beer and not much else to say about it.

A decent light lager. More taste than Bud Light, but still not a ton of flavor. There are better lagers out there.

Bottle. Pours a clear gold with no head. The aroma is corn malt and metal. The flavor is almost non existent with metallic corn malt. Nothing going on with this one.

The beer has a light gold color with a thin, bubbly white head that had short retention and cling. The aromas were mild, with notes of grain and a touch of malt. The taste was fairly meek with a slight grainy bitterness and only a hint of sweetness. It was a thin beer with a light mouthfeel, and had low carbonation and was on the dry side with a slightly pronounced alcohol effect.

Clear yellow pour out of bottle, thin fizzy white head. aroma is adjunct filled with corn and rice, hints of slight grainy ness, but thatís about it. Taste isnít much better, slight corn, grain, slightly dry. No thanks.

Appearance: Pours out a clear, yellow body with a small, fizzly, white head that doesnít stick around for long. A few trails of effervescence fail to support the head.

Smell: Just a small sniff of husky bland barley and booze.

Taste: Faintly grainy with a scant cereal sweetness. A little booze. Itís akin to a baby malt liquor. Sweetish, lightly husky, lightly astringent finish.

Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Overall: Itís bad when a beer makes you want a Bud Light.

Tastes like bud light with a shot of vodka. Very sweet, grass, corn, the usual crap. Nice looking bottle, nothing else.

Bottle to glass. This is the color of my piss when Iím medium, to well, hydrated. Clear, as well. Aroma is sweet corn and mineral water. Taste is bold and sweet. More corn and some seltzer water. Thin, light, watery. Karl is correct; you could easily drink a thousand of these in a night.

Bud Light Platinum is beer known to most of us through Super Bowl advertisements and the fact that Anheuser-Busch is ubiquitous. The marketing angle on this is definitely kind of weird. It positions itself as sort of an upscale light beer but then they also focus on the elevated alcohol content. I am wondering if the idea, which is still all to prevalent in the craft brew community, that stronger beer is better beer has gone mainstream. In any case, there is nothing too special--good or bad--about this as far as Anheuser-Busch beers go. It is a very light straw yellow color w/ nearly no head. The first whiff is quite pungent w/ an edge of overripe fruit and alcohol but then the aroma wanes to a low level cheap beery smell w/ a twist of bandages around the corners. This is a very light but slightly sweet beer in flavor w/ a high level of slightly fizzy carbonation, which feels about appropriate. Aside from smelling a bit strange, this isnít undrinkable or anything--it reminds me most of maybe lemon flavored carbonated water--but it really doesnít do much for me otherwise.
