3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Consumed at a restaurant in Kutná Hora, CZ in 2011. .33l green glass bottle with copper foil on neck and cap, and red + gold label is double dated with production date (18 January 2011) and minimum expiration date (1 year later) -- a brilliant system every brewer should adopt!
Pours a very clear golden color, as crystalline as I’ve ever seen in a beer. The ample carbonation consists of fine and larger bubbles, leading up to a white frothy head of limited duration. It had a fine malty smell with a clear hop presence and hints of fine white wine and evidence of the higher ABV.
T - excellent hop/malt balance from start to finish, although ending with more hoppinees. More sweet and less bitter than the description of the brewer would lead me to expect.
O - this Budvar is indeed special and easy to recommend.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: DEC 12, 2012 Nice 7.5% pilsner. Very nice- you can’t really tell its that strong, so I imagine if I had more than a couple it might take its toll! Refreshing taste, light almost floral taste. Very nice ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Strong lager nose, and this leads into pretty much what you expect - a high strength European lager, much like carlsberg elephant. Nothing much redeeming here, and if I want something that actually does stat this seems to be trying to do, l’ll have a duvel.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Amber with a white head. Sweet malty. The booze is quite evident and becomes basically the only thing this beer is about. Jakey juice.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Pours nice clear golden color but with no head. Aroma is lots of malt and a bit of hops. Flavor is lots of malt and alcohol. Quite flat in flavor. Slightly bitter aftertaste. Almost no carbonation (was my bottle badly stored?). Not that bad overall, but nothing to get excited about.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Golden, medium head with filmy retention. Nose is bready malts, hay, honey notes in the background. Taste begins somewhat sweet, malts, honey, fruity notes, but the finish is too heavy on the metallic booze (although there are some fairly crisp and pleasant hop notes in there) and drowns out all the good stuff. Lingering booze burn. Medium carbonation, medium to thin body, slightly oily mouthfeel.

1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Yellow and clear, with a white head that disappeared quickly.
Aroma is not impressive at all - lager-like with some alcohol.
Flavor of added sugar. Maltier than the average lager, but not balanced and the residual sweetness makes it feel like a bad bock.
Body is heavier than a standard lager, and the mouthfeel is fine.
The alcohol effect is well noticed. Pass on it if you can.
