Mooi volle afdronk.

UPDATED: JAN 12, 2015 Low alcohol edition of the famous namesake Bohemian Pilsener, tasted as "Budweiser Budvar B: Free". Very sticky, snow white, regularly structured, medium head with good lacing and long-lasting retention, colour deep golden blonde, a tad darker than expected, cristal clear with strong fizz. Aroma initially dominated by the ’lightstruck effect’ (cat pee) but fortunately this fades away quickly, after which a soft, sweetish smell of biscuit, toasted bread, popcorn (though no actual corn is used here), old cookies, faint grassy hops and a hint of iron appears; the taste is relatively clean and crisp but neutral, minerally, with a somewhat oily mouthfeel and medium carbonation, explicitly metallic and sourishly grainy like any cheap mass produced lager, thin and watery, but with a herbal and even somewhat spicy hop bitterness in the finish, ending dry and longer than usual for the style; something chemical lingers too. Not the worst low alcohol beer I had so far, but nothing compared to its renowned grandfather, of course.

Glden colour, tall bubbly head. Aroma of hay, grass, metal. Light body. Thin texture. Bittersweet taste. Balanced. Hoppy finish. Probably the best NA I’ve had so far.

Flaske 500ml anskaffet av djoeye og delt med ham og Rune pĺ pauserommet 27 Aug 14. Lys gyldenbrun. OK skum som varer en stund. Forsiktig humlet aroma. Smaken er karamell & sřt malt. Litt syrlighet i ettersmaken.

500ml bottle kindly shared by djoeye. Clear golden coloured body. Fair white head, fragile lacing on the glassware. Modest aroma of pale malts, dry. Taste of grass and grain, wort-like hints to it. Drying on the palate. Thin. Soft carbonated. Fair enough for what it is (Bokhuset, Tromsř 10.09.2014).

Good off white head, clear golden pale body. Scents of czech caramel malts, some flowers, ginger, hops. Taste; green pale hops, apple’ish malts, wort and bread. Okay on palate. Quite okay overall. [50cl green btl 0.5%abv° BB26.11.14]

330ml bottle from Papantoniou, Pissouri, Cyprus. Lazing gold with a slender white foam. Aroma of honeyed pine sap, hay, sweet corn and shrub. Clean and bready with notes of honeyed cracker, wholemeal, pine, even lemon and line wine gum before a generous pils-like parting thwack of bitterness kicks in. An excellent n/a that embarrasses many of the adjunct-laden alcoholic alternatives on this island.

500 ml can. BB 12/08/2014. (Tesco) Plzeň, Czech Republic.
Clear golden colour with a small white head. Grainy malt, bread, sweetness and mild hops in the aroma. The flavour is bready malt, dry graininess and mild hoppy bitterness. Not the worst non-alcoholic brew.
