3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 DanielBrown (2717) - Birmingham (via Leicester), West Midlands, ENGLAND - MAY 27, 2005
Hand pulled in the Wellington, Birmingham. Nice, toasty brown, with a friendly beige froth head. The overriding thing that I liked about this beer was the balance. Crisp, with an immediate bite, but a long lasting lfavour through the finish. Bits of sweet cereal, blended with nuts and a smidge of metal. Good stuff and probably one of my preferred Alts, although as Chris says below, I’m not sure how it compares to bottled 6% stuff??

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 chriso (7065) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 10, 2005
Copper coloured with a sparse head. Limited aroma. Reasonably malty. Dryish palate. Clean and fresh. Smooth, lightweight mouthfeel. Bittersweet overall impression. Although the individual elements don’t amount to much, I thought this was a pretty good drinking beer. Slipped down easily. Putting it on cask is an interesting experiment, and becoming a bit of a Wetherspoons tradition. 4.8% in this version, so its borderline whether this should be regarded as a separate beer. Cask (handpump), Shakespeare’s Head (JDW), Holborn, London.
