Troubled darker brown with light brown foam head. Aroma is bittersweet, quite normal for this dark beer. Taste is bittersweet with some grassy notes. Short lasting aftertaste. (Velp 201301)

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Batavi (169) - Waalwijk, NETHERLANDS - JUN 20, 2015

Bottle. Amber color with good white foam. Aroma: caramel with other malts, a little fruit and butterscotch. Taste: also sweet, caramel, with hints of honey, light fruitiness, lightest hops in finish.

Arends Nest, Amsterdam. Keg. Bright clear deep amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and crisp. Light sweet malts, touch of caramel. Whisper of something fruity. Light finish. Ephemeral but inoffensive.

Keg at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 25/09/14. Clear chestnut brown with a moderate off white/light beige covering that dissipates then retains. Nose is bitter dark fruit, earthy notes, metallic rinse, nutty. Taste comprises dark fruit rinds, brown bread, malt loaf, dates. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drting close. So so affair, the blandometer is well up the gear stick!

Draught at Arendsnest. Clear orange colored with a small off-white head. Sweet and malty aroma of caramel, hay and bread. Sweet and fruity flavor of caramel, bread and dried fruits with notes of hops. Hoppy finish.
