[Gravity cask at Back of Beyond, Reading] Murky orange, thin white head. Sweet and rather cloying from the off; apple and caramel, toffee and banana. Earthy bitterness comes through in the finish, but not enough to balance the sweetness. A bit like a sweet belgian ale mixed witha hefe and a traditional British bitter. A really odd beer; I couldn’t decide if I liked it or not.

12th April 2010. Clear amber beer. Tiny white head. Smooth palate - almost soft, Light sweet aromatic malt. Subtle floral notes and nice creamy nutty flavours. Just a dash of orangey hop in finish. A little off the beaten track. A bit dry but smooth and sweet.

Cask - The Bell Hotel (JDW), Norwich. Poured a copper amber with a creamy off-white head and a touch of lacing. Pukey, toffee malt and fruit aroma. Weird metallic, yeasty and a bit pukey again on the tongue with light to medium notes of fruit. A bit lagery in terms of finish and mouthfeel, medium carbonation and light to medium body. Not for me.

Hand pulled cask at JDW Ruislip Manor. Amber with a loose bubbled film. Malt and sugar dominate while crying out for some hops.

Cask at Spoons, Milton Keynes in Spoons Real Ale Festival ’10. Copper amber with a white head. Sweet fruit and malt aroma. Raspberry ice lolly in my opinion: rather nice. Sweet malty taste with leafiness. Some bitterness. I really enjoyed this.

Cask at JDW Hounslow beer festival. Amber with a lasting thin fine head, there’s caramel and faint hints of banana fritter on the nose, then a rich fruitcakey body with creamy peach and strawberry jam notes, and a dry clean finish. Very nice but somehow not quite all there, like a Tripel that’s not strong enough to assert itself.
