Look typical of Belgian Strong Ales. Creamy white head, neat brownish amber. Substantial malt aroma, sweets, pleasant nose. Medium dark malts and toffee. Alcohol is well blended.

Bottled, BB dec. 2004. Clear brown coloured. Aroma of caramel malts. Malty flavour as well, some brown sugar. Not superb but ok.

nice presentation like a abbeybeer, butit's really an ambercoloured beer. It's to sweet for me in the beginning, but the aftertaste is dry, and continious with mainly malts and herby yeastflavours and some hidden hopps. The comments about the port aroma's i do support.

Malty aroma, sweet (sugar cane like caesar said). Dark amber coloured, not much head. taste is malty and sweet. Palate more bitter.

Ruby color, short dying head. Aroma of amber malts, caramel and sugar cane. Taste is sweet malty, roasted caramel. Sticky sirupy body, with a too sweet bitter palate, which lasts quite long.

Ruby red color, frothy head. Caramel and orange aroma. Caramel flavor, rather vinous, with hints of sourness. Pleasant, but unconvincing.

UPDATED: MAR 9, 2008 Bottle@Home, Mar 08, 3.5: Ok, still and ok beer but 4.1 was way too much. Bottle@Home, Apr 03, 4.1: Aroma is prune, port and a little yeasty. Brown color, light brown head, very good lace. Sweet, full, little bitter, well hopped, well balanced, some prune and caramel flavors. Little syrupy in the finish, dry and some hopbitterness. Very surprising good beer.

Not good. Not complex nor well-balanced. Artificial and sickly. Antoher "great" beer from the "mighty" budels brewery.

This beer has a cloying aroma and a flavour of bog. All the Budels beers I have tried so far have been very dissapointing.

One of those undrinkable brown, sweet, sticky dubbels with no hops and pretensions to complexity.
