Abbey beer, ruby colour, top-fermentation beer, outstanding owing to its soft flavour and fantastic aroma. This beerís name comes from the French Capuchins, who had a monastery in Budel at the beginning of the last century.

Originally rated January 2006. Last of the Budels brew, part of the 6 pack I got from the LCBO. None of the other brews got my attention, letís see with this one. Pours a darker colour, like caramel and cola together. Head is tanned, foamy and fizzy, with good retention and very nice lacing. Lively carbonation. The nose had some roasted malts, molasse and hints of Oud Bruin scents, right after pour. It disappear a few minutes after. Medium-bodied palate. Very pleasant taste with some caramel, toffee, raisins and roasted malts. By far, the best Budels, and the only one that is worth trying.

Bottle @ home. Nice dark brown color with a deep dark red glow coming through. Ok smell, bit flat. Taste decent but pretty sweet. Low carbo, low to medium body.

Colour is nice. Decent and average scoring beer. Didnít take too many notes, since itís nothing too special.

Bottle at Arendsnest. Clear deep red brown beer with a good pale tan head. Creamy malt nose. Softish palate. Softish creamy malt. A little nutty with subtle fruit and a whisper of bubblegum. Semi soft and semi dry finish. Just a nice nutty malt beer that hangs together really well.

Pours out darker brown, a medium head that should hold some longer. Sweet smell of red fruits and caramel. Fruits, sweet caramel, malts at the taste.Prunes and raisins. Dry, a bit earthy, specially at the finish. Not my style of dubbel.
