2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottled. A light golden coloured beer with no head. The aroma is very sweet with honey notes. The taste is also sweet and honeyish. Quite cloying really and over-carbonated. A real let down.

(Rating #412)

2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Parel? Certainly not nonpareil. How is this a "Belgian Ale," anyway? Maybe it’s the high alcohol, which is not even close to masked. Plastic and spoilt vegetables in the nose, unbalanced bitter hops, some grass and citrus (still better than a U.S. macro, but that goes without saying) and a pale straw colour with little head and spotty lacing.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Clear pale orange golden body with a compact white head. Aroma is of pear and yeast. Light carbonation, light in body, soft malt as the backbone of this beer, some bitterness but not a lot else still it slipped down well and I didn’t realise it was 6% until after I finished the bottle.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bright pale yellow color, with a foamy white head, straw, citrus note and pale malt aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a smooth pale malt, a nice floral hop, and hint of fruitiness, leading towards a crisp zesty fry bitterness finish.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle shared with HogTownHarry -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a clear light-gold with a small diminishing white head. Unlike the other Budels I think I may have spotted a few bubbles in this one. Aroma of sweet malt, fruit, light hops and a little something off or sour. Flavour of grain, yeast, fruit and a sweet finish. Mediocre and certainly not a Belgian Ale.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle (330ml). Shared with Blankboy - Budel giftpack adventure 4 of 6. Poured clear gold, pretty flat looking, with an average diminishing white head. Aroma of mild sweet hay, malt; lightly fruity (banana? pear?) - but ultimately not much of anything. Taste is lemony-honeyish, malt sweet, taste of alcohol at the end - sort of like grainy cold medication, no linger to the taste. Mouthfeel is soft, light bodied, very flat (again with Budels). Overall a bit sweet, it doesn’t seem to know what it wants to be.

1.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Limpid golden body with average carbonation and decent white foamy head. Its malty/hoppy aroma is rather unidimensional and thus boring. Taste is unbalanced and dominated by some unpleasant and harsh bitterness. Ends with a bitter/metallic finish. This has nothing to do with the Belgian Ale style.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottled (BB 01/2006)
Golden color, not much head. Malty, rye bread aroma. Medium-bodied, malty, a bit harsh-bitter and alcoholic. Nothing really wrong with this, but simple and in the class B of "Belgium" ales.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours gold with a short white head. Corny malt with faint minty hop aroma. A bit too mediciney to be pleasing. Not the freshest bottle either. Cellared for about a year. Had it before, neither exciting at either sample. Predominated by a detergents, cedar, and some juniper. Carrots, crackers. Syruppy mouthfeel and flat as the carbonation has no "pick-up". Herbacious and not really sweet. Has just enough malts to back it up. Dry stale finish. Just doesn’t taste good.
