3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
(Bottled) Clear amber color with a small, bubbly head. Fruity, somewhat yeasty aroma with alcohol hints. Very fruity-estery, sweetish, somewhat alcoholic and barley-wineous flavor. Medium-bodied, slicky palate with medium carbonation. A decent, but somewhat alcoholic brew.

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottled (BB 01/2007)
Clear amber color, good creamy brown head. Glue and rubber-like aroma, not very delicious. Light, harsh rubbery malty flavor with some sugar sweetness. Not very winter-like. Tastes sweet and cheap ale.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap t Arendsnest Jan 2004. Bronze, moderate white head and moderate condition. Low malty aromas with some slight woody/peaty whisky notes. Caramel, toffee and low hops in the mouth, and much the same in the finish. Pleasant winter warmer but nothing special.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: DEC 20, 2006 Malty aroma with just a bit of vinegar in aroma and flavor. Dusty and a bit vinous. Malty flavor, bitter (not from hops) and butterscotch. Just a touch of smokiness. Somewhat dirty palate. (6 3 5 2 10 = 2.6)
I was much more pleased with the 2006 tap version. Creamy mouthfeel. Roasted malt in the aroma, with speculaas and caramel. Sweetish and somewhat syrupy, like coughing syrup. The higher rating is well deserved.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sample is a bit aged (BBd 2002) Beautiful chestnut colour, clear. Thick creamy, cream-coloured head, lacey dissipating. Nose of cookies, (caramel) malt, some port, and hops. Bitterish taste, less from hops than from burnt malts. Quite sweetish, but watery underbuild. Perfumed and even soapy palate. Watery, thinnish mouthfeel, empty, sweetish aftertaste. Another one that starts in heaven only to smack painfully down on earth when tasted. Pity.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
(#300)Malts and fruits (ananas) in the aroma. Clear amber coloured.Sweet, malty taste with some fruits and hints of spices. A bit weak. Indeed more alcholic palate. Overall not impressive.
