Overall this is an entry level micro attempt, but not a bad one. I remember when AB launched the Pacific Ridge to battle Sierra, and that’s what this reminded of, simple malts with some hops for the beginners. Now this would not be in my top 500, but since the distribution arm of AB is mighty, if i’m stuck in some hillbilly town outside of Houston, and this is my only choice besides lights and macros, this will work. bkurtz (294), Peru

A decent balance of malt to hops with an acceptable finish. I noticed it is climbing in price compared to when it first came out. I have had it on tap, 12oz and pint size and the taste has been consistant. It is hard to buy from AB when there are so many small breweries that need support. If you are looking to save a buck give it a try.If your expecting a multi layer taste experiance its not going to happen, but overall not bad. Frank (1142), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jan 24, 2010 The problem w/ rating something like this is it’s virtually impossible to separate the brewer from the beer. If you are anything like me, you go into this already ticking of slanderous and vile comments to make before you even crack the bottle simply because of it’s brewery of origin. I don’t see this as AB trying to be a craft brewer but rather their crack at something equivalent to Bass Ale. As such, they do a pretty good job of it. It is a pleasant amber color w/ a little bit of white foamy head that leaves a patchwork of lace. It’s light but malt-centric, mostly caramel and cotton candy flavors, w/ a twinge of earthy bitterness. There is kind of a slight metallic twinge in the finish which is surprising. Above all, you’d expect an operation like AB would be able to keep quality control super tight and avoid off flavors. Perhaps it is a result of pasteurization or something of that nature. Regardless, it detracts little from the presentation (possibly simply because they set their sights so low) and this is a decent beer overall. 1010 (218), Marysville, Ohio, USA
