fogdoctor (16), Pennsylvania, USA Feb 27, 2009 Updated: Sep 10, 2009From the bottle it pours a stunning copper color with a floral aroma. I’m not going to claim that this is a great beer but at its price point it is drinkable. It does not fit neatly into a category but it has a reasonable flavor thats between an IPA and a traditional ale.
It has two significant flaws:
1) It finishes way too dry. Not only that there is no lingering flavor.
2) As others have mentioned its definitely over carbonated.
Feels like they started developing something really good and then ran out of time. Regardless, its easy to find and certainly drinkable. curly (548), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Feb 26, 2009 Updated: Feb 27, 2009Draft poured with a thin white head that quickly disappeared. Color is clear amber. Almost wanted to be hoppy but is not. Smells grainy and has a strange banana like taste for me. Does finish clean and crisp. Good try though anheuser. Appearance: Deep amber look with initial decent looking head – reduced to creamy ring. Good contrast. Nose: Gentle hop accent, clean made amber malt. 6- Flavor/Palate : medium bodied with lighter follow up. Slight bitter feel with semi decent approach. Step in right direction from A-B.
Haslinger (640), Syracuse, New York, USA Feb 26, 2009 As much as I hate to write this, this really isn’t a bad beer. I am pleasantly surprised. If this is what ImBev brings to the AB merger I am happy. I would definitely drink this over Budweiser any day but wouldn’t buy for myself. ucfknightscott (46), Casselberry, Florida, USA Feb 23, 2009 Pours a copper/red with a medium white fluffy head. Aroma of hops, caramel, slightly fruity, malty, and a bit grassy. Not what you expect from Budweiser, interesting. Taste is balanced but a bit flat. Definetly taste the caramel malt and a slight fruity finish. This is definetly a shot at Boston Lager. I know all you beer geeks will cringe but... not a bad attempt from ol’ Anheuser-Busch. A valiant effort but leaves a lot to the imagination. If this is among the macros on tap, this will be my pick. Can you imagine if this beer replaced Budweiser? I know I’m dreaming but that would give me some hope for the palates of this country! Barreras (121), Diamond Bar, California, USA Feb 23, 2009 A red to copper color from tap at local Chili’s restaurant. Lots of malt flavor with no real distinct flavor. Descent for a "Budweiser" beer but nothing I would make a habit of drinking. budallpro (18), , Missouri, USA Feb 23, 2009 From a bottle pours almost clear deep amber color with a small beige head leaving some nice lacing. Aroma starts out hoppy but then fades shortly after. Flavor hoppy and mallty with hints of caramel DrnkMcDermott (1832), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Feb 23, 2009 Updated: Feb 24, 200912 oz. bottle. From "mix-a-six" rack at Jewel. Actually a bit of a surprise. A brown bottle with a non-screwtop crown. Definite malt smell with a nosegay of hops that spreads out when I pour. Amber body with a pale ale head instead of fizzy macro pop foam. There’s some malt in the taste. Yes, some hops that are balanced more in favor of the malt. Not a boatload of PNW hops, just a profile that can repeated from year to year and in many breweries. Mouthfeel does come across a little brittle, like a light beer, the only real ding against it. Like the kid down the street who wants to be Honkers Ale when grows up.
