Actually a bit of a surprise. A brown bottle with a non-screwtop crown. Definite malt smell with a nosegay of hops that spreads out when I pour. Amber body with a pale ale head instead of fizzy macro pop foam. There’s some malt in the taste. Yes, some hops that are balanced more in favor of the malt. Not a boatload of PNW hops, just a profile that can repeated from year to year and in many breweries. Mouthfeel does come across a little brittle, like a light beer, the only real ding against it. Like the kid down the street who wants to be Honkers Ale when grows up. carboloader (319), Houston, Texas, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 23, 2009 Pours copper orange clear with some carbonation bubbles. Decent soapy head. This is Budweiser? Aroma actually has some malt & hops. Apple flavors. Best Budweiser I’ve had, but flat and lacking any finish of a real ale. Still, if you find this among only macroswill, it is the better of that variety. wingman333 (236), San Antonio, Texas, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Feb 20, 2009 Better than I expected but still not that great. Just once I’d like to see the big names take a risk! Nice red color with whitish head, mosty malty in flavor. Slight bitterness, a metallic-type smell, kind of foul. bu11zeye (5433), Frisco, Texas, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Feb 20, 2009 (Draught) Pours a clear amber body with a medium off-white head. Aroma of caramel, grass, nuts, and toasted grain. Flavor of mild hops (grass, floral, earthiness), bread, and caramel malt. fromred2green (144), , Ohio, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Feb 18, 2009 Tap. Reddish-amber color with a nice sixed head. Hoppy, rough aroma. Flavor is hops and caramel. Quite grainy and quite carbonated, and not very smooth, but still much better than any other A-B product I’ve tried. Braudog (3748), Dayton, Ohio, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Feb 17, 2009 Bottle. Red beer with a big ol’ head. Big malty aroma, but this is essentially a sweet beer wtih a definite starchy bent. Why did I expect something better? (#3507, 2/14/2009) m4rest88 (216), Beverly Hills, California, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Feb 14, 2009 Pours a brown hue with a small white head that is mostly diminishing.
Taste is very burnt, and chalky - weirdly enough. Some dark fruits in the taste, but not much - mostly water and wood.
Hoppy aroma with a slightly bitter ending taste.
Medium body with light carbonation.
Better than bud light? yes SledgeJr (2960), Omaha, Nebraska, USA
| 1.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 1/5 | 3/20 | Feb 13, 2009 This tastes burnt. Why can’t they get anything right? It does have a slight hop aroma, in a break from their typical brews. Amber in color (likely from artificial caramel coloring). This is just unpleasant. Horribly over rated here at 2.7
