Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA Jan 20, 2009 Pours a clear copper with a constant flow of small rising bubbles and two fingers of frothy ecru head that diminishes to a thin skin and patchy lace. The nose is a sweet blend of subtle Juicy Fruit-like fruitiness and doughy malt notes. Light-bodied and slightly grainy with a mildly astringent finish. Sweet, burnt caramel malt with just a touch of hop bitterness at the drying finish. It’s far from a great amber ale, but if you find yourself smack in the middle of BFE with nothing but macro lagers to satiate your beer cravings, you could do worse. drjay44 (758), Salida, Colorado, USA Jan 19, 2009 Draft...Tried it because it was the"best" beer on the list. Pours a thinnish head over a clear amber body, no lacing....nose of mild malts, minimal hop......tastes of mild malts, bit of hop finish....light mouthfeel....not much malt back bone compared to craft beer, but compared to the usual industrial schlock it is better. My rating is based on BJCP Amber. kassner (429), Wexford, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 19, 2009 I finally gave up and tried it. Bottle. In my opnion, It is an excellent example of a craft beer dumbed down to a poor example of any type. I wish AB wouldn’t offer it as Americas belief as to what an Ale should be. It tastes a lot like their Bock, only thinned out and more carbonated. Malty with some offcolor aftertastes. Trully dissappointing and not my America. sward84 (24), Burke, Virginia, USA Jan 19, 2009 For a guy who does not usually drink Burweiser, I muct say that this was a plesant suprise. Poured from a bottle...nice golden brown color...decent head. Caramel hoppy flavor...clean finish. For once, Budweiser has done something decent....to bad the had to buy out half of the American beer industry (Then get brought out their own self) to get there ClarkVV (3578), Allston, Massachusetts, USA Jan 19, 2009 Promo bottle from Sunset Grill Winter 2008. Yawn. Not horrid, just a little stale tasting, with some acetyldehyde and, gasp, actual hoppiness. Candy sweetness from underfermented malts. The hops are on par with something you’d find in a brewpub golden ale. Noticeable, but imparting nearly no bitterness. Who is the target demographic for this? Certainly not craft brew drinkers and certainly not hardened bud/bud lite drinkers. Next. ratman197 (3139), Arvada, Colorado, USA Jan 18, 2009 On tap at Charlie’s Silver Fox poured a clear amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of carmel and fruittiness. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of bread, light carmel and light fruittiness with a smooth moderatly bitter finish. IlanMan (816), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA Jan 17, 2009 Bottle. Pour was just as shown in picture. Aroma was surprisingly hoppy. Flavor had medium sweet malt characters with a good amount of cascade hops. Not a bad brew. I’m surprised, really. About time America used a bit of it’s brain to make a somewhat decent brew. alexanderj (2213), Chino Hills, California, USA Jan 17, 2009 Sampled at Sea World. Amber to copper in color with a solid amount of off white head. Aroma of caramel, sweet malt, earth and flowers. Flavor was slightly sweet caramel with a good amount of earthiness in the finish. Nice to see that they actually used a bit of hops in this one. Not a bad beer at all.
