celogan (190), Oroville, California, USA Nov 29, 2008 Very Dissappointing, though I shoudn’t be surprised as it’s an AB product. I’d almost bet that this stuff is Michelob Amber Bock repackagded under a different label. Smells and tastes the same. Put them side by side and see if you can taste the difference
Poured with nice foam which dissapaited in a very short time. Lacinng was so-so. Aroma burned caramel
Watery mouth feel with some malt and barely noticable hops
This is drinkable, but not something to go out and get any tme soon. Schroppfy (1810), Ohio, USA Nov 29, 2008 I have no problem with this beer other than a pretty tinny flavor and a residual sweetness that reminds of vague adjuncts. Aroma is actually hoppy - sort of grapefruity. Otherwise crisper, cleaner and more flavorful than a lager of similar ilk. I may even get it again. The price is right after all... jujubeast6000 (772), Houston, Texas, USA Nov 29, 2008 Reviewed 11/17/2008 (bottle):
Pours a very clear, light brown body. Huge foamy whitish head, pillowy. Bitter aroma, malty, piney, but not very strong. Bitter taste, with a malty middle,, and a bitter nutty aftertaste. Very fizzy, but a somewhat watery palate. A harsh carbonation. Maltiness. Not much else, not a complex flavor. Slight drying in the mouth. HonkeyBra (1266), Lemont, Illinois, USA Nov 28, 2008 I found a bomber of this for 2 dollars and decided what the hell. pours amber with a thick, foamy white head. Very active carbonation. Kind of a stale, corny nose. There might be some caramel in there somewhere. Flavor is barely there, bready malts, an impression of bitterness, very watery. Finish is kind of like stale cotton candy. This isn’t terrible, but it’s certainly disappointing. DuffMan (2719), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada Nov 28, 2008 Deep golden amber, moderate foamy white head. Earthy caramel aroma. Same one-dimensional palate that initially is served so cold as to be nearly flavourless, but as it warms up the earthy caramel comes forward with some some pear fruit notes. The finish has a low astringent bitterness that is barely there. Not as bad as I had anticipated, but if you’re after a quality amber ale there are hundreds to choose from that are better than this. nefarious (202), Clarkston, Michigan, USA Nov 28, 2008 dark reddish/brown pour into a shaker...actually a really nice pour with a very nice 1 finger head and a very slight malt and hop aroma, nit much but noticable. Mostly malt flavor and macro corn, but, slight hops. I have to say for the 6.99 I paid for the 6 pack? you cannot not beat the value. not even close to the best beer that I have had even this week! But for an everyday session, give to guests or just regular ale...you cant beat it. You’ll pay $8 - 9 for Sam Adams. This is as good a beer produced by any Macro I have had. Cheers
Beershine (2678), Hue, Vietnam Nov 28, 2008 Clear coppery-red with thick stable head and some lacing. Aroma has some retro-nasal phenols but other than that has a nice balance of malt with leafy hops. Thin, prickly, highly carbonated. Flavors not bad. Bread crust. Touch hops. Finishes slightly phenolic much like the aroma does. Gets worse by the sip, more phenolic with some paint thinner and grain alcohol to boot. Overall I’ve had worse but we can expect so much better. puboflyons (589), New Hampshire, USA Nov 28, 2008 From a 12 fl. oz. bottle marked 08298SJ07. Surprisingly good looking amber-reddish pour with foamy beige head. Aroma of malts. Above average mouthfeel. Taste more hopped. Hmm, something fairly decent from In-Bev/Budweiser.
