unixweb (237), Sherman, Texas, USA Nov 26, 2008 Nice amber brew with a somewhat frothy, lingering white head. That surprised me, and the color was nice as well. Nothing special, but this is Budweiser, so had somewhat low expectations. Nothing against Bud, but it’s mass-produced domestic swill, for the most part. This did manage to change my mind, though. There is a bit hops and malt in the aroma, and the same is true for the taste. I emphasis a BIT of hops and malt. Medium body, and a slightly thick mouthfeel make for a pleasant finish. I have to admit...this isn’t bad, and in fact has become my "typical beer". I’ve bought a few six packs of it, and will continue to do so. It isn’t great, but it’s above average and is a cut above Bud’s usual offerings, IMHO. RedSox2004 (353), Pacific Palisades, California, USA Nov 26, 2008 12 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass. Great looking beer - nice clear amber with a generous head, good retention and decent lacing. Perhaps this is its downfall. After setting such high expectations from the appearance, the aroma was a real letdown. Nose was dominated by unpleasant soapy and overripe fruit odors. The taste wasn’t nearly as unpleasant, and I’m dumbfounded that a beer that smells this bad can have a taste that isn’t offensive at all. Truth is, I can’t do better than to say it isn’t offensive. An unimpressive caramel flavor can be found, and a weak sense of malts, but you really have to pay attention to try to find it. Mouthfeel is ok, featuring a medium body and over-the-top carbonation. Unfortunately, the aftertaste is reminiscent of the aforementioned aromas. I bought six of these, and I’m afraid five of them will be in my refrigerator for a long long time - unless some unwanted guests drop by.
fluffy (229), Florida, USA Nov 21, 2008 i gotta say this was a lot better than i expected. grassy, bright citrus flavor, like budweiser if it was fresh and made with better ingredents! coldbrewky (716), Saugerties, New York, USA Nov 21, 2008 Otakuden said it all on this one. A feeble reactionary attempt to lure their own drinkeres into purchasing more of their own products. I’ve had better brews straight from the canthat were left open overnight. Hard water, alkaline aftertaste. made the follow up PilsUr taste so much better. haggis03a3 (132), Piedmont, California, USA Nov 21, 2008 $2.00 cheaper than a 6 pack of micro brew. Good head, orange/amber color. Mild aroma, mainly malty. Flavor is malty, little fruity, some hops. Its a mild, accessible, amber ale. Not bad, but a funny aftertaste and a bit rough around the edges. But the question is, is it worth 25% less than micro amber ale? Probably not for me. Foxbush (452), Richmond, Virginia, USA Nov 20, 2008 This was a pleasant surprise. This beer from Bud had some taste. It wasn’t bland. I had a six pack to try this ale. The head was frothy and the color was a clear amber. There was modest malts and more hops flavors. I prefer more hops. Homer321 (127), Rockledge, Florida, USA Nov 20, 2008 aroma is bready and biscuit-y. sweetness from some crystal malts. appearance is very clear ruby color. taste is light on citrus, but more malty than hoppy. no head with minimal lacing. it’s like mich ultra on steroids. Not a real pale ale, more of an american amber but needs more hop presence (especially given the marketing). could use more body and nouthfeel, but the lack thereof makes it very easy to drink (but not necessarily good). ATLBeerDog (280), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Nov 20, 2008 Pours an orange red with a frothy 1 inch head. Very light lacing trys to cling to the glass. Smells of light hops and some malts. First sip is rather bland and lacking in flavor. Way too light bodied even though the malts dominate the light hops. This is better than Bud The Lager but not good enough to compete with the crafts. You can put lipstick on a Bud but it is still a Bud.
