Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel and malty, a touch sweet, with some hops. A medium bodied amber. The malts are caramel and sweet. The hops are floral. Decent balance. Good carbonation. A touch sweet and there is some breadiness. A touch of hops as well. Not bad, but I probably have had a 100 ambers that taste close to this one. Not bad, but nothing here that stands out. Decent amber. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. tarheels86 (723), Washington DC, USA

Pours a fairly nice amber with high carbonation and a good, creamy, white head. Lacing is minimal. Aroma is distantly hops, water, grass, maybe some nuts and and sweet malt. Taste is watery with a half-ass attempt at dry-hopping. It almost tastes fake from the appearance, nose, and mouthfeel. It is certainly better than Budweiser the ’’American Lager’’ but still sucks in my opinion. Not really worth the glass bottle it is pressurized into. Nice try. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 24, 2008 Beer pours from the bottle a very nice amber, high carbonation and a thick white head. Aroma is of light caramel malt and much more pronounced citrus aroma. Beer is quite smooth with a low malt flavor and a moderate citrus taste. The mouth feel is a little lite but for a Budweiser product its not bad, compared to other craft brews is very mediocre. thejoeshow (232), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Oct 24, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a nice amber color with a big frothy off white head that has fairly good retention. Aroma has a slight hop aroma but nothing compared to what I would think of as it’s advertised as dry hopped. There is also a slight hint of DMS. Flavor is very understated. There is a slight maltiness to it but nothing huge. Finish is a bit dry and grainy. Mouthfeel is a bit off too, could be a bit more full. Think red Budweiser. Not terrible like I expected but nothing I am going to make a regular in my fridge. mctous (119), Herndon, Virginia, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 24, 2008 Bud Ale pours a medium amber with plenty of head retention and a distinctly diacetyl aroma. The diacetyl character also dominates the finish. The malt flavor closely resembles Michelob Amber Bock with its caramel malt, yet departs from it with a more floral hop flavor (the Cascades). Again like Michelob, the mouthfeel lacks body. Overall a near miss which could use a less exaggerated yeast character. oteyj (724), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA

Aroma is somewhat grainy and astringent with a slight nose of citrus hops, but not much. Flavor is light and somewhat non-existent. Some sweeter malt and grainyness again. Palate is thin and watery. | 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 24, 2008 Tap at Draught House. Pours an average amber with an aroma of slight nut and roasted chocolate. Flavor is subdued candied malt. Average mouthfeel. Not disgusting. NeoHippie2 (173), Louisville, Kentucky, USA

However It seems to me that they couldnt decide what to make here. A rich malty red ale? Or a drier hoppier ale? It tastes like they poured the two together. Anyways, I cant be too harsh considering how good it was for who makes it. Hopefully, this is the beginning of AB going in a new direction
