mybrainhurts (213), North Dakota, USA Oct 16, 2008 Clear, copper colored pour. Foamy, chunky white head, plopped on top. Dusty grains, faint hops, and sweet caramel malt aroma. Just a basic amber beer. Crisp, yet manages a sticky mouthfeel. Not worth the hype IMO. Crafty07 (391), Florence, Kentucky, USA Oct 16, 2008 Decent amber ale with good color and aroma and a safe but not unpleasant taste, this ale is better than most, if not all of the products made by AB.
looks like the mircobrew revolution is forcing the giant to make better beer. BrownDogBeer (50), Portland, Oregon, USA Oct 15, 2008 Nice color, slightly hop smell. Poured nice with a good slightly colored head.
Not a bad taste sorta like a brown or light ESB.
Not a bad offering considering that is from AB
Would try again, not as a first choice but then at the price zach8270 (2051), Henrietta, New York, USA Oct 15, 2008 (bottle - 12 oz) Copper pour with a puffy off-white head. Aroma is malty with hints of caramel and a light touch of grassy hops. Flavor starts with a caramel malt note then goes to a slightly bitter and dry middle and a crisp and lightly bitter hop finish. Flavor lingers a bit. Didn’t know what to expect of it and wasn’t completely displeased. KYackley (33), , Minnesota, USA Oct 15, 2008 Updated: Oct 18, 2008Attractive copper color with a minimal off white head, malty aroma with a hint of caramel, lackluster taste relative to the build up..lacks the hops to be worth a second try, finish lingers on the tongue with adequate flavor, overall its an uninspired amber ale that hopefully will ultimately add a little power to its punch leaves one wanting more.... llcooldave (309), San Antonio, Texas, USA Oct 15, 2008 It looks good at it pours a dark honey amber in color with decent head that’s off white with a touch of caramel thrown in. It’s very carbonated and bubbly on the tounge. There’s a sweet malt flavor almost like honey or molasses. Kind of weak on the hops flavor for my taste but there is a present bitterness that somewhat pleasing. Roasted malt aroma with a touch of smoke. Overall not a bad brew. I have to at least give AB a nod for trying. jeremyd365 (109), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA Oct 15, 2008 First and foremost, I’ve been curious about this for a while ever since rumors that Bud was going to make a "craft" brew of their very own. I was almost routing for them to fail, yet at the same time hoped they would at least make an effort at it. And although it didn’t turn out spectacular, because, let’s face it, it’s still a macro, it really isn’t bad. I was surprised and pleased to say that this is one of the best MACROS I’ve had.
It poured a darker brown with a bit of light brown head and seemed mildly carbonated. It of course smelled of malt and.. what’s this?! hops?! Really?! Believe it or not, I could smell ’em. I could even taste ’em! It’s got a decent malty flavor with a slight hint of hops. It’s definitely drinkable because it’s still not that heavy. I won’t mind purchasing sixers of this one in the future to offer to others, or even to assist friends in making the transition to *actual* craft beer. I still hate on macros, but I at least need to give Bud credit for seeming to make a true effort on this one.
nchomefinder (29), North Carolina, USA Oct 15, 2008 pours a copper color, very light flavor for an ale, not bad. i think it needs more hops. much better than regular bud. not what i am looking for when i buy an ale.
