beachbum25 (778), Powellville, Maryland, USA Oct 11, 2008 12 oz bottle-nice looking brew, cloudy copper color w/a large, off white head which lasted thru the beer. Slight, flavors of caramel & hops, but they are very muted. Had some carbonation. I had high hopes for this brew based on the pour, but it didn’t deliver. Pretty bland, maybe it would be better on tap. I grew up a Bud drinker so I wouldn’t say I have an anti-Bud bias; in fact I would rather drink a regular Bud over this. Hangover (764), Atlanta, USA Oct 11, 2008 Nice copper pour with a frothy tan head. Aroma is malty, with some caramel and no corn! Taste is certainly unoffensive with more caramel notes and just enough hops to prickle the palette a bit and separate it from the other crap AB puts out. Finish is bitter and lingers. Good enough but they have a long way to go! Meatmallet (120), Salem, Illinois, USA Oct 11, 2008 Pours a dark amber color with a thick tan head with lots of lacing. Is this really an AB product? Smells of carmel and malt dominate. Not overpowering but a nice balance. Taste is heavy on carmel and hopps. Kind of bitter but very crisp. It is heavily carbonated and a long lasting aftertaste.Probably the best beer AB has to offer. Ron (1002), Rochester, New York, USA Oct 11, 2008 Gave my brother a six of this for his B-day then traded for one so that I could rate it. Pours a clear light amber with a nice big off white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, and sweetness. Taste of malt, hops, caramel, and slight bitterness. This medium bodied brew finishes smooth. Was expecting worse but is pretty tasty for AB and well balanced.
douglas88 (1557), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Oct 11, 2008 Bottle from Smiths. Pours a light amber color with a medium white head. The aroma is pretty light; some floral hops and light malts. The taste was also quite light, but decent; some caramel malts, light hops in the body, and a larger hop contingent in the finish. Very clean and decent. A drinkable brew. RedXIII (127), Powell, Ohio, USA Oct 10, 2008 Very simple, but not a bad attempt from a macro brewery. Pours a burnt amber color that yields aromas of caramel and malts. Taste is just like the nose with a hint of bitter hop finish. Medium body, fairly crisp with a bland aftertaste. I hate to say it, but it’s really not that bad. Ignore the Budweiser brand and I bet you’d give this a higher rating. stubby (325), Santee, California, USA Oct 10, 2008 A little water for the style. Like other raters have said, nice hops and certainly a departure from the American standard lagers that made them famous. Jsawyer (282), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 10, 2008 Bottled. Pours Amber copper with a finger of white head that actually lasts. The aroma isn’t overly disappointed, hops are actually noticeable and pleasant. Sweet caramel malt, very slightly roasted, somehow the hops serve to bring out the alcohol flavor. Its also a bit metallic in the finish. A little too carbonated and slightly watered down though. Definitely a step in the right direction, however if you read the label you’ll quickly realize how far behind budweiser really is.
