alexsdad06 (1056), Ohio, USA Oct 10, 2008 12 oz. bottle from shigadeyo. Pours a clear copper color with a medium sizedfine off white head. It actually looks better than I had expected. With the aroma, I picked up mildly sweet caramel malt, a light roasted quality, some floral/herbal hops, and a very slight citrus note. At this point I’m still interested. The flavor has nothing offensive about it, its just a bit watered down. This beer has decent balance between the caramel malt and the lighter hop flavors. There is a slight bitterness to the finish. Light to medium bodied and it is pretty smooth. Overall, my expectations were exceeded by this one. brokephibroke (137), Mead, Colorado, USA Oct 10, 2008 Clear coppper pour with stable off white head. Faint hoppy aroma Watered down hops no aftertaste no bitterness. Smooth. Captures the spirit of an American Ale, yet really not the soul. verymerrymonk (255), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Oct 10, 2008 Pour is a clear amber with a thin white head. Sweet caramel and some hop bitterness in the close. Not bad at all - it beat my expectations. BeerBelcher (930), Columbus, Ohio, USA Oct 10, 2008 Hops? Wasn’t I promised hops? The commercial mentioned hops, and the name "American Ale" led me to believe there would be some similarity to APAs, but that’s not what came out of the bottle. I started with an open mind; appearance was nice, but there isn’t much more here than that. Very little aroma, what there is aroma-wise is more malty. And flavor was more caramel-y and malty than anything else, and not really for me. WabashMan (798), Noblesville, Indiana, USA Oct 10, 2008 An honest man will give credit where credit is due. Oh, that’s too generous. It’s partially due. In fact, had this been an ugly beer, I might have been more amenable to its flavors. But the fact that Budweiser has succeeded in making a good looking brew makes its mediocrity in other aspects all the more disheartening. I suppose they deserve credit for trying, and for getting part of the way there. Color is a nice medium copper, with a respectable head of light tan. Nose is lightly fruity with a little hoppiness. Flavor is actually decent...but fades FAR too quickly. It’s a flash in the pan, really, and had they worked to create a longer lasting flavor, this would be much improved. BigBeer45 (676), Troy, Michigan, USA Oct 10, 2008 Bottle, pours a reddish dark gold with some brown-bronze, gave about a two finger off-white head that collapses, lots of carbonation, aroma of toasted malt, grain and caramel, flavor is the same, some bitterness on the palate, mouth feel is medium or so, more aroma and flavor then expected, not bad, one little gripe though that has nothing to do with the beer’s drinkability, some of text on the label is hard to read, label background and lettering are both dark and not easy to read. mcox90 (617), Wilton, USA Oct 10, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a deep amber color with an off white head. Aroma is malty. Moderate palate. Beer has some body to it. Flavor is malty with grains. Some nuttiness. Finish is bitter and acidic. I had some trepidation about trying this beer. It is, after all, a Budweiser. However, I must say, I am pleasantly surprised. This is drinkable and by todays standards, cheap. Less than $6.00 a sixer at Wal-Mart. I think many of the raters are influenced by the fact that it is a Bud product. CaptBier (301), Birmingham, Alabama, USA Oct 10, 2008 Bottle: Pours an amber color with a decent little head and nice lacing. The nose is lightly toasty with some nutty qualities. A bit of sharp husk in the flavor and an acidic twang in the tail. The flavor has light notes of cascade and a moderate body for the base malt I recon. Much bolder than I anticipated by at the same time very safe
