BigBen2120 (688), Derry, New Hampshire, USA Oct 9, 2008 12oz bottle from Shaw’s supermarket. Pours a crystal-clear amber-red body with a half inch of quickly dissipating head. Smells bready, with caramel and a slight citrus hop presence. Tastes like a nice balance between citrussy American hops and bready caramel malt. On the lighter side of medium bodied with ample carbonation. Very very drinkable. While Amber ale is a bit of a catch-all category, this is a solid example of the style. A bit pedestrian compared to what I’m used to, and not the best example of the style I’ve had, but a tasty, drinkable, easy to find, and inexpensive brew, and I wouldn’t mind picking this one up more often. paiste2002 (148), Saugus, California, USA Oct 9, 2008 12 oz bottle. Finally after all the hype. Well
I’ll be quick here. Malty sweetness dominates, hops are non existent...boring!
That was a waste of $7.99
awaisanen (1279), Irvine, California, USA Oct 9, 2008 From a 12oz Bottle. Crystal clear, caramel amber colored pour with a tall head of fizzy off-white. Aromas of toffee, teething biscuit, and bread dough. Not much of a hop presence in the nose. Faint whispers of pear esters add a subtle fruitiness. Medium light bodied, moderately carbonated mouthfeel with a smooth, malty texture. Flavors of biscuit, caramel, and light nutty malt sweetness up front on the palate with just a smidgen of toast. Clean and malty, with a very minimal hop presence. After a few sips, some mild hop bitterness is found lingering on the palate, but their contribution is very minimal. Exceptionally clean with a malt bill that has a rich flavor for an amber ale, but it would be nice to have more hop character. This is most comparable to Fat Tire, and I have to admit its better. TwoDudes (77), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Oct 9, 2008 Draft @ 15 in Saint Louis - Well, after months of speculating, I finally got to try this beer. Pours a dark amber with a head that quickly dissipates. Nose is non-existent. Flavor is good with a nice rush of hoppy goodness, but then...nothing. It vanishes so fast that you can barely remember what you just drank. Having said that, I can see how it would be an immensely sessionable beer. juiceisloose (640), Windermere, Florida, USA Oct 8, 2008 Pours a clear amber color with a good sized foamy, off white head that leaves some spotty lacing behind. The aroma was decent of sweet malts, caramel, bread, and a hint of citrus hops. The flavor is mostly malty sweet with the caramel malts dominating with some rice grains, and some citrus hops on the back end. It was hoppier than their other stuff, but still dominated by the malt. Light and very easy drinking with a decent little sweet flavor. It is definitely better than most of their stuff and surprisingly better than I thought. I would drink this if a place was only serving macro stuff. Beerlando (2284), Orlando, Florida, USA Oct 8, 2008 Bottle. Well, I had to try it. It actually looks like a decent beer, save for its ultra-filtered, crystal clear body. Coppery-red in hue, the brew is capped with a fading, frothy, beige colored head. Jagged, bubbly lines of lace mark the glass well. The aroma gives off flat caramel malts, crusty bread, hints of generic citrus, and an unfortunate dose of sweet rice. Flavors are again lackluster, subdued caramel and dry rice grains livened up a bit with faint citrus and lightly peppery hops. The body is on the light side, yet somehow sticky and cloying, like a cheap lager. Overall, it’s definitely better than most of AB’s products, but it’s far from an impressive beer, and it’s probably something I’d pass up in all but the most desperate situations. kflorence (93), San Diego, California, USA Oct 8, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours a deep amber color with carbonated beige head that dissipates rather quickly with caramel and malts on the nose. The taste is of malts and caramel with slight hop presence in the finish. This is a very light, carbonated and smooth ale with a clean finish. This beer offers no complexity, but it is very drinkable and much better than Budweiser’s other offerings. However, for the price ($7.99 for a 6-pack), I would rather have something more flavorful. Though I suppose this would make for a decent session beer at the local pub. kpresley77 (133), Jackson, Georgia, USA Oct 8, 2008 Bottle pours clear amber with thin white head. Very little lacing. Aroma is sweet malt. First taste is sweet and it is pretty well balanced. Not much hops burn but a slight linger of hops. To much carbonation.
