Aroma is mostly sweet, notes of caramel and honey. Flavor is pretty much straight caramel sweetness. Could definetly use more hopping to balance things out. bb (2976), Martinez, California, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 5, 2009 Decent fare from AB. Pours coppery/orange with a medium head. Aroma is fairly typical of APA or American Amber, lots of cascade hops dominate the front end, followed by a caramel malt honey note. Flavor is fairly reflective of the flavor, but there is an odd grape/apple skin flavor in there as well. A bit pricey, but in a pinch, this would satisfy a beer crave. hopscotch (5558), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

Decent retention. Fruity, malty aroma… caramel, toffee. Medium-bodied with Champagne-like carbonation. Very well-balanced, but not a whole lot going on. Short, crisp, clean finish. A little better than expected… lacks the acetaldehyde found in their lager. mkobes (2104), paramus, New Jersey, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 5/5 | 10/20 | Sep 30, 2008 Bottle. Deep reddish amber in color with a nice off white head that left a lacing on the glass. Malty caramel and hoppy aroma. Earthy, grassy, piney hops. Malty light hoppy flavor. Finish is bitter. Well balanced beer. Medium bodied. Smooth tasting. Nice beer. sloth (1689), Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 20, 2008 Pours a medium statured tan head, retention is fair and the lace aint too shabby either. Clear, amber colored ale, really a nice lookin brew. Nose is mostly caramel malts with a light hoppiness and a little dusty. Body is lightly medium, lightly oily on the palate, somewhat creamy, decent mouthfeel. Caramel malt flavors dominate, lightly sweet, a hint of butterscotch and toffee, light tea bag notes as well. Finish is almost dry, earthy and quick. A surprisingly decent brew for the boys at AB though i really believe they coulda went that extra step or two, but once again they dumb it down for the masses.
