Gave my brother a six of this for his B-day then traded for one so that I could rate it. Pours a clear light amber with a nice big off white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, and sweetness. Taste of malt, hops, caramel, and slight bitterness. This medium bodied brew finishes smooth. Was expecting worse but is pretty tasty for AB and well balanced.

On draft, not yet available in bottle. Amber with a small off white head. Aroma is pretty nice with caramel malt and grapefruit hop. Flavor starts out similar but then the rice kicks in. Dammit, why did they put an adjunct in here?! It gives it a "Budweiser" feel but I thought the point was to not, well, I’m venting. I was pulling for them and, well, here I go again. Get rid of the rice and maybe they are moving in the right direction.

Pours a clear copper color with a medium greyish colored head. Aroma is medium sweet with lots of malt (pale, toasted and caramel) and some earthy hops in the background. Tha flavor is mostly English malt and very little citrus hop. Finishes very dry. Small to medium bodied, watery texture. Personally I don’t see what all the hype is about.

Bottle. Amber body, fruity nose with mild PNW hoppiness, dense, lasting off-white head. Flavor somewhat weak, thin, doesn’t live up to the appearance or the nose.

Rerate Not as flavorful this time around - very run of the mill. Nondescript aroma, light copper appearance, flavor more bland than before. Original 3.2 Dark copper pour with a sticky off-white colored head. Fresh floral aroma with some brief sprucey accents. Flavor has some nutty accents, a bit of subtle citrus, and some menthol notes and a caramel back end. Mouthfeel is decently thick for the style. I would buy this if it was priced similar to other AB products.

An amber appearance with a beige head. You can still read the text on the monitor through the beer, so not too impressed with that. The aroma isnt half bad with some citrus and caramel. There is also a floral presence. The flavor contains some caramel, some citrus like oranges and lemons. The finish contains a hint of bitterness. The palate is thin. Overall it’s a decent session beer but that is where it ends.

I’ve been meaning to try this for some time, so I finally bit the bullet and picked some up while I was grocery shopping - completely clear amber beer - she kicks up a substantial head, that shrinks down quickly to a rather thick, frothy lace - the aroma and flavor are fairly middle of the road, even for an amber ale, but it is quite clean and refreshing - crisp hop bitterness up front, followed by some mild fruity/estery character, finishing with some bready malts and a return of a tiny bit of hops - a tiny bit nutty - watery finish - inoffensive, but bland, forgettable - they could have done a lot more with this beer, but instead they dumbed it down, even for a style that I don’t expect much from.

Sampled 10/24/2008. This amber ale pours a medium amber color from a 12oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel and malty, a touch sweet, with some hops. A medium bodied amber. The malts are caramel and sweet. The hops are floral. Decent balance. Good carbonation. A touch sweet and there is some breadiness. A touch of hops as well. Not bad, but I probably have had a 100 ambers that taste close to this one. Not bad, but nothing here that stands out. Decent amber. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
