3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
From the bomber into a pilsener, it pours a clear red with a one inch white foamy fizzy head that lasts for about a good two minutes before dieing fairly quickly. Rapid carbonation is seen rising. The smell is sweet among corn/rice adjuncts, malts, and sugar. The taste is the same. The palate is probably the best thing about this thing as it lives up to its label "distinctively smooth." It is light and coats the mouth and tongue smoothly. It leaves a bland, slightly metallic yet acceptable aftertaste and a sweet watery finish. Overall, actually not bad for AB, Iíd probably have this over a fair amount of other BMC products, but as an American Amber/Red Lager, Iíd say it doesnít compare to better ones of its style.

Well, what can I say? I was thirsty as all-get-out, itís hot as a two-dollar pistol in Atlanta, and this is what they had.
Pours clear amber with a fairly thick but effervescent ivory head. Weak aroma is fruity and malty. Flavor is actually OK, more fruity than malty, pear with some apple. Mouthfeel has average body, but fizz leaves something to be desired. OK for a party or while watching your favorite team kick ass.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass.
Aroma- Has a soft aroma of malt and hops, faint but there
Appearance- A dark copper colored brew with a medium sized white head.
Taste- An okay BMC product, does not compare on the flavor chart to a craft. not horrible
Palate- Has a nice crisp feel, light bodied brew with heavy carbonation.
Overall- An ok beer if the place you are at has a limited selection. There are many worse beers out there.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
12 ounce single bottle from Hickory Tavern in Charlotte, NC, but widely available everywhere. Pours a lightly dark amber color with a thin head. Aroma is grassy and a bit of hops. Taste is super boring. This is just a stronger version of Budweiser with no redeeming quality what so ever.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 9/20
Ok, so I tried it out because I thought it would add one more beer to my board. Not a fan of house brews, but they hold the advantage of making us love high quality craft beer!
341ml amber bottle poured in a pilsner glass at 4 degrees:
The pour is fluid/aqueous with a clear dark straw color showing some orange shades. Big carbs topped by a vivid rough white foam fading completely leading to no apparent lacing.
The nose is grainy, mostly, but also has some sweets (caramel maybe) and a metal element in the background. NOthing more to say.
On the tongue, the grainy malts come first and clear the way for that those sweet/metallic features not really adding an enjoyable aspect to the beer. They last quite a while on the palate so the finish is as... shall we say bothersome.

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20
From a bottle. Pours almost clear gold with a fizzy white head. Tastes like stale malt, straw, and musky corn. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like musky straw, corn, not much aroma.

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Bottle. Pours clear amber with fizzy white head. Aroma is musty corn, light caramel, light spice, and some funky wood character. Flavor is dry and funky, not too offensive but definitely some cooked corn notes. Medium body and light carbonation.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Certainly not the worst A-B offering available... but thatís not indicative of "craft style" change by the macrobrewery. It pours a clear amber into the glass, with a weak soda head that diminishes to no lacing. The nose is of circus peanuts and some marshmallow. Flavors are very subdued, malty caramel and some light woody notes, finishing with aerated sugars and nondescript hops that donít make a real difference in the grand scheme. The mouthfeel is light and the palate has soft carbonation. Overall, for a brewer with so many resources, you canít tell me that A-B canít produce a "real" substantive, complex craft offering, especially when the craft scene is so huge. Not one? Really? Oh well, again, this certainly isnít the worst offering A-B has produced. But itís just a shame that phrase has to sum up A-Bís approach to the craft brewing world.
