COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
With a blend of two-row caramel malt and four types of domestic hops, Budweiser Black Crown is finished on a bed of Beechwood chips for a smooth, balanced taste. Incorporating the proprietary yeast directly descended from the original Budweiser yeast strain used by Adolphus Busch in 1876, Budweiser Black Crown retains the key characteristics of Budweiser with its clean taste and high drinkability. Featuring more body, color and hop character than the flagship lager, it also has a slightly higher alcohol content at 6% ABV.

Literally tastes just like standard Budweiser, except this one has 6% alcohol. Keep away from fraternities. Looks like bruised bloody kidney piss. Try once, then avoid forever.

Certainly not the worst A-B offering available... but thatís not indicative of "craft style" change by the macrobrewery. It pours a clear amber into the glass, with a weak soda head that diminishes to no lacing. The nose is of circus peanuts and some marshmallow. Flavors are very subdued, malty caramel and some light woody notes, finishing with aerated sugars and nondescript hops that donít make a real difference in the grand scheme. The mouthfeel is light and the palate has soft carbonation. Overall, for a brewer with so many resources, you canít tell me that A-B canít produce a "real" substantive, complex craft offering, especially when the craft scene is so huge. Not one? Really? Oh well, again, this certainly isnít the worst offering A-B has produced. But itís just a shame that phrase has to sum up A-Bís approach to the craft brewing world.

In bottle. Tastes like yellow colored water. Almost zero palate. Quite aqueous. Not a bad flavor, but not good either. Just kind of blah. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Backlog rating on 11-20-2012 (Bottle) This beerís appearance is a small ivory head that mostly diminishes, transparent gold body, very fizzy, fast rising carbonation, and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is caramel malt and a suggestion of hops. The flavor is semi-sweet, caramel malt and a suggestion of corn. The mouthfeel is smooth and this beer is light-medium bodied. This beer lacks much aroma and flavor and did not set the world on fire for me.

I was looking for a beer for the days end and sports. It had all the pleasant taste and fullness without the bitter after taste. This is my first choice now.

Why do I do this? Poured from 12 oz bottle a deep golden amber color with a quickly dissipating off white head. Aroma of Bud-Skunk, dirty bar carpet, sweet corn malt and dirty, wet grass. Flavour was of thin malt, caramel, and a dominate corn character. It finishes with what I can imagine what a dirty and wet kitchen towel would taste like. Classic, Mega-Macro, American swill. Pass....

Never been to big on amber lagers. But this one was ok. Not as popular as I think it deserves, yet still something good Budweiser made

"A little more to it than I expected. Though not good, or something Iíd seek out again, it is within the realm of if Iím at someoneís house and thatís the best they have, Iíd take it over nothing. Still has the macro corny feel and flavor, but a little bready malt as well. Light, almost undiscernable hops."

As the label advertizes, this is indeed a golden amber lager. It has a typical A-B short-lived fizzy white head. Itís a step above most of the brews that have "Budweiser" on the label in that it actually has a discernible aroma, caramel with a touch of toffee. Not as carbonated as most Buds are, I wonít be burping all night. The flavor is light, caramel and little else. No trace of hops. The finish is abrupt; when the swallow is over, no aftertaste follows. Nothing great, but more drinkable than most A-B beers.

I knew this one would have a low rating, but 9 out of 100? I know this isnít a craft beer, but itís not that bad. Aroma and appearance are below average, but all I really care about is the taste, and this one is surprisingly flavorful for an AB product. The palate is better than one would think too. Fizzy, refreshing without being too watery. A drinkable choice if you have to buy your beer from a gas station.
