COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brew Masters’ Private Reserve is an exceptionally rich beer that is a symphony of character, featuring a balanced hop aroma with 8.5 percent alcohol by volume (ABV). Based on the time-honored Budweiser brewmaster holiday tradition of collecting the richest first part of the brew as it is tapped to the brew kettles to celebrate the season, this is the first time it is being made available to the public.

Bottled. Courtesy of Paps. Clear amber with a small short lasting white head. Aroma of caramel, toasted malt and alcohol. Sweet bit grainy caramel and malty alco flavour.

Vintage 2007, courtesy of Papsoe. It’s beautiful, red-golden with a sweet and vinous aroma with notes of raisin, fruit, roasted malt and caramel. The flavour has a malty sweetness, it’s slightly vinous with notes of raisin, caramel and slightly grapefruit-like hops. It’s surprisingly light in the overall impression, but nice.

2007 bottle. Opened with a spurt of wet gas. Aroma is roasted malt with some grassy hop. Beautiful mahogany color with an impressive beige head. Medium body with fizzy/creamy carbonation. The flavor is roasted caramel with some balancing bitter. The alcohol is a bit up front. The finish is not all that dry, and there is some grass or veg from the hop. It is definitely peppery or spicey in a light way. The flavor improves with continued consumption. A nice effort for AB, and I think the ratings would be higher if the bottle came from somewhere in Germany.

Large hinged botte. Hazy amber orange pour with a huge off-white frothy head that mostly lasted with minimal lacing. Light tart citrus alcohol aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture. Medium sweet flavor with a sweet finish of moderate duration. Not what I expected, nice bottle.

UPDATED: FEB 1, 2007 Bottle... Clear yellow lager with a small, creamy, white head. Decent retention. Grainy nose with light notes of ethanal (acetaldehyde) and stronger notes of spent mash, honey and peppery hops. Sweet, boozy flavor with light cereal grains and mild, herbal bitterness. Full-bodied and chewy with medium carbonation. Lengthy, heavily sweet, mildly bitter finish. Imperial pilsener all the way. Not really my thing, but good for what it is. Spendy though!

Huge flip top bottle. Poured a medium amber color with a small sized white head. Aromas and tastes of corn and malt liquor (since I don’t have too much experience reviewing Malt Liquors, this is only my 2nd to DFH’s, I’ll leave it as generic, nasty malt liquor). It takes some balls to label this as your premier, Brew Master Private Reserve beer.

Bottle poured a clear amber with small lasting off white head. Aromas of straw, bread, a hint of carmel and light citrus. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, bread and a hint of citrus with a lingering lightly bitter finish.

2007 bottle shared by RSRIZZO and headbanger. Pours hazy tawny with an average, creamy light brown head, somewhat lasting head with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, caramel, toffee), light hop (herbs), average yeast (leather) with notes of dust and paper. Full bodied, creamy texture, average carbonation, and an astringent finish. Average duration, heavy sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.

BMan1113VR (7380) - Los Angeles, California, USA - JUL 29, 2010
2006 Vintage bottle. Pours with a hazed golden body and a somewhat slow to fade white head. Aroma is straight unfermented wort, tons of crystal malt, raisins and apples. Smells very sweet, but tastes even sweeter...cloying infact. Toasty, sweet and raisins. Lots of oxidation. Did they forget to add yeast, or are there just WAY too many unfermentables in the grain bill? Lively bubbles.

Pours a clear golden with a well-lacing frothy white head. Potent alcohol and noble hop aroma has some grainy corn to it. Starts dry and thin with lots of adjunct flavor and burning alcohol. Slightly better than regular Budweiser, but charging $12 for this is absolutely rediculous. Thanks to JPDIPSO for sharing his bottle so I didn’t have to waste my money buying a bottle. There are a lot of better malt liquors for much cheaper.
