I was so excited on my first trip to Prague. The waiter asked for what I want to drink & I ask what they have.. "All we have is Budweiser" he says. My heart sank, but quickly recovered when he meant the Czech variant. Overall I'm think it's a very good beer, but not a world record in my opinion. Plenty smooth, aromatic, and flavorful, but the aftertaste is marginal.

Deep blond color with nice compact head. In few words, it has a huge butter aroma that covers the malt; the malt flavor is tired, the bitterness is ordinary, the hop qualities are missing; and there is again some diacetyl.

Blond color. Light hay aroma. Weak body, dry, quite bitter at the end. Not what I expected.

Poured a golden color with a quickly diminishing white head and no lacing. Had the signature pilsener slightly hoppy aroma. Slight combo of malty and hoppy tastes. Clean dry finish.

A very nice pilsener. Gold color, white head, thin lacing. Pleasant flowery hop aroma. Well-balanced flavor, not too sweet or too bitter. Very drinkable, AB should take notes.

Draught in Prague. Clear sparkling golden color and beautiful long lasting head. Ideal "belgian lace". Lovely fruity and hoppy aroma. Sweetish malty flavors, with a touch of flowerness and long dry bitter finish. Great.

Golden hue with little head and no lacing. Aroma was light with the standard pils hints of Saaz hops and roasted malts. Floral grassy and horseblanket too. Taste was crisp and balanced, dry on the finish. Thin to medium-bodied with a watery and lively mouthfeel. This BUDVAR (F__k A-B) is still a world classic but I would rather have a Urquell or a German Lowenbrau.

Rich golden color, long lasting medium head. I'm a fan of Pilsner Urquell and this seemed very similar but with less distinctive aroma and flavor, probably because the ex. date was looming. Well balanced with dry finish.

Another one left over from the Christmas gift pack. It had a best by date of 2/03, so it was probably past it's prime. That said; I opened it up, poured into the tasting glass, and found that it wasn't skunky, but had a malt and tangy hops smell. The head poured well, and lasted a decent amount of time (1/2 way through the drink). I received a good clean light malt taste that lingered, and then a hit of orangey hops. I think this bottle survived. It was a good thirst quencher, but nothing I would seek out. I would go with a fresh US interpretation of the style first. However, this probably deserves a re-rate from a definite fresh bottle in the future.
