The Beer of Kings. Much better than our crap Bud. Similar to Pilsner Urquell, maybe not quite as good. Drank this for the first time while vacationing in Austria.

UPDATED: JAN 28, 2009 Beautiful head, they seem to know how to pour here in Czech Rep. Lovely aromatic, semi-sweet flavour. Can’t seem to trace much aftertaste. Nice mouthfeel. 3 3 7 3 16
Draught. Weak hoppy aroma. Clear golden colour. Stable white head. The flavour starts off quite malty. There is a good clean sweet hoppiness. The bitterness is not very high. Very drinkable. 6 3 7 3 17

Ah the REAL Budweiser, don’t know if that’s good or bad, but it’s definitely better than our version. Crisp, with a slight bitter hop twang and nice malt finish.

It took a 2 hour trip to find this "Real Budweiser" last weekend. In a green bottle, not brown and shipped all the way over here=skunked. A clear gold with a small white head, looks similar to the horrid "La Biere Du Demon" I just dumped. Yes it's is a bit skunked but the grassy hoppy scent still is discernable. Those same characteristics translate to the flavor as well with some pale malt flavors too. A very crisp dry finish. A nicely balanced beer but doesn't beat Pilsner Urquell in my book!

Easily one of the most drinkable beers imaginable. Light and crisp and fresh. I feel bad that we don't get to have it by its original name. Clearly bests the king of beers.

Drinking this in a bottle here in Canada doesn't seem like the proper way to rate this one. It definitely is a good example of drinking something fresh...years ago I had a friend from Cologne rush me out to the pub to get a fresh pint of what he called Budweiser. I was even more of a neophyte than I am now and was skeptical about his excitement about having a Bud. Then I learned the story. Anyway, the beer was quite tasty and refreshing and sadly don't have notes to rate that verion. So for this version: A decent pilsener. Drinkable but nothing to go out of your way for - unless you're near somewhere that serves it fresh.

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2006 A decent pilsener - probably has such a good reputation because drinkers will always compare it to Budweiser, and there are very few beers that would look bad in that situation. Smooth, decent body and some flavour.

I don't get all the hype about this beer either, basically just another average pilsener, golden color, nice fluffly white head, crisp & smooth, drinkable

Personally I don't know what all the fuss is about this beer. I've drunk it in Ceske Budejovice quite a few times and it's nearly always sweetish with little hop or interest for me. Maybe it's just my personal taste, but I find it pretty boring. (draught in Panda bar, Ceske Budejovice)

The orginal and good classic pilsner from the Czech Republic. It has a mild and smooth taste, and so is the aftertaste.
