3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: AUG 27, 2006 Golden colour, big bubbly head that goes off rather fast. Pretty nice pilsner smell, the taste is also good - nice bitterness, hops flavour, maybe slightly too much carbonation. Good pils anyway

A Mes rate:
It has been said many times before but I will say it again. This is really not my thing but as pils go this is certainly one of the better ones. So glad they managed to keep the name after the legal shananigans with those we shall not mention.

The Rate Beer descriptor for the beer style sums up the Budvar very succintly (funny that!). Great hop / malt balance and whilst not a hop head’s delight finishes tight and clean. I can imagine these beers need to be drunk very fresh.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
An excellent czech lager. Blond and clear colour, medium body, thin feel, average carbonation, bitter, abrupt finish. Fairly bitter taste.
A beer I like driking along spaghetti with carbonara sauce.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: OCT 3, 2005 The real Bud. This Bud is actually good unlike the beer that stole its name. Smooth, crisp and hoppy lager that is typical of the Czech Republic.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: MAY 23, 2009 On draught at "U Obory", Jabkenice: Golden coloured, medium-sized, long-lasting firm head; sweetish-malty aroma with a distinct tinge of floral hoppiness; mainly sweetish-malty taste; light bitter-sweet finish; quite light-bodied; well drinkable, but not terribly impressive; there are better, but unfortunately unknown Lagers in the Czech Republic !

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
[bottle from sainsburys] pours light yellow with a light head which does not last. A stale cardboardish aroma ruins an otherwise pleasantly hopped nose, a little grassy. this stale taste comes through again in the palate, body is light and has a dry finish.

I Like this beer simply because it is the REAL budweis! It is also better the fresher it is like most light lagers/pilsners.Soft body with spicey Czech hops makes American Budwieser look like the pathetic beechwood aged shite that is.
