3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: SEP 19, 2004 Bottled. An excellent golden straw colour. One of the best pilseners available widely, something that is delicious on a summers afternoon. Nice Saaz hop aroma, and decent bitterness.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bready hoppy nose, pretty golden lager color, decent white head that slowly faded. Very good on the palate, smooth, no carbonation bite. The flavor is surprisingly malty with a nice grassy hop bitterness to offset the hops. Delightful. Better on draught, but its been too long (3 years) to rate that tasting.

Finally a "Bud" I can drink! Excellent hop and malt nose, smooth, low carbonation. Excellent balance and finish.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bitter, hoppy aroma. Lazy carbonation. Not much head to speak of. Typical golden lager color. Not bad, a little metallic in the aftertaste. A little bit of malts here and some hops there. Good for the summer.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: JUL 2, 2003 (Note 6/20/03: I tried this again on draft at a bar in Berlin - interestingly enough my scoring was almost exactly the same...) Light premium lager - I guess that it's just the style I'm not so fond of... That said, this Czechvar had the beautiful classic lager golden color and a rapidly dissipating white head with no lacing to speak of. Moderate aroma, malty with generous hops - orange and a bit of perfume. Well done, but still typical lager flavor - definitely better than the other mass produced "Budweiser". For me this would be best with a light lunch on a hot day, rather than featured for an evening tasting. Drinkable, but give me my ales please!

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
This brew had a quick dissolving head with no lacing on the sides of my mug. The carbonation could be seen rising to the top. The body was gold. It had a fruity sweet aroma to me. There was an aftertaste with this brew.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Gold, with white head and some lacing. Quite malty, with some grassiness and bitterness from what are probably Saaz hops. Very satisfying.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: JUN 4, 2003 This brew poured a medium head of fine white bubbles and a transparent light orange colored body with carbonation rising up the sides on the mug. It has a mild hop aroma with the flavor of a lager and its head left little lacing. The taste of this beer is not bad and not great. I could taste notes of chewy hops and some acidic bitterness in its finish.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Well its been a real longtime since I’ve had a Budweiser Budvar, and my notes are quite favorable, but that was before I became a “Beer Geek”, and truly developed my love for dark strong ales.
The archetypal limpid golden pilsner color, the head brilliant white, moderate in size and frothy in structure, the lace adequate, prototypical pilsner nose, all malt and lightly sweet, fresh and clean, start is malt and somewhat sweet, top is skeletal in its feel. Finish is potently acidic, the hops pleasant in their spicy bite, dry aftertaste, a fair to middling beer, good as its 100 degrees Fahrenheit today, and will remain so till mid October, so these “Clean and Crisp” beers do hit the “B” Spot.

Plae yellow color with a large rocky white head. The aroma is perfumey with some very subtle spiciness from the hops. The flavor was rather bland...watery...some hops, perfumey. Typical pilsner characteristics. I'm not really impressed.
