4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Medium gold color, medium head. Slightly malty and fairly hoppy. Clean and light, this Czech ‘Budweiser’ has the lightness and crispness of ‘Bud’, but it has a lot more flavor. More hops than malts. Nice crisp sharp hoppy flavor. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is dry and slightly bitter. Nice tasty lager.

I prefer this to Pilly-U: its condition is more reliable and the flavor better integrated and there are no plans to brew it in some godforsaken place like Poland. Creamy head, integrated light malt and classy hops. I think I can make out the flavor relationship to A-B’s version. I find this to be a perfect session beer, great when playing sports or grilling.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
In my opinion the second best beer, right after the original Pilsner Urquell. Less bitter than PU with slightly sweet start. Those who don’t recognized its qualities probably had bad luck with a spoiled bottle - to enjoy it fully you need to experince it on tap.

UPDATED: JUN 26, 2008 The first time I tried this, I loved it, and returned to the store a week later for another wonderful six-pack. Apparently those were very fresh, because I picked up another six from the same store a number of months later and it was skunky and much less flavorful. I’d imagine that the third six was from the same shipment as the first two, as they didn’t seem to be turning it over. RERATE 6/08: Some fresh stuff. Simply awesome.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Lightly sweet, bready/cereal malt aroma. Bright, clear, yellow-gold color, with a rapidly diminishing head and only a little visible effervescence. Flavor is pretty well balanced between the malt and the herbal, almost grassy hops, but the hops donate mostly flavor and little actual bitterness. Finish is spicy, lively and very clean. Light body, of course. So this is the famous Budweiser Budvar, eh? Hmm. It’s okay.

"Heey duuude, I’m drinking the REAL Budweiser..." It certainly is better, though.

UPDATED: JUL 30, 2007 A very nice pilsener. Completely different from its rival Urquell, more malty instead of hopbitter, but just as authentic. Excellent pilsener.

Good beer, much better than the OTHER Budweiser with which this shares its name. Slightly bitter, but the taste is a unique one.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Very nice gold color with a decent head and nice finish. It is kind of heavy for a lager, and has a very grainy taste and aroma.

Grainy, bread-like aroma, good balance of hops and malt... great pilsner. Nice, clean, refreshing beer that just knocks you over the head with its grainy aroma and flavor... if grainy is even a word that is. pilsner’s are just unexciting to me...
