UPDATED: DEC 31, 2004 This beer is sort of a one-trick pony, no big winding complexity but a bit of pure malty sweetness set off with a few classic Czech hops. This beer is exactly what it’s supposed to be and kicks ass with Moravian Schnitzel and potato salad. It even travels better than Plzensky Prazdroj (Urquell) which is a super beer fresh in CZ but whos flavors tend to dis-integrate with handling and storage.

Golden pouring with a nice head which surprisingly not lasted too long. Mild flavour with some malty taste.

Pours gold edging on light copper with a white short lasted head. Mild bready/biscuity malt aroma with a light grassy hop smell there too. Flavour was suprisingly bland compared to what I was expecting. Light sweet start with a mild bitter finish. Feel is a little watery in my opinion too. Disappointing.

Sparkling golden color with a quickly settling pure white head. Aroma is malty and quite representative of the style. Smells clean and fresh with a mild astringency. Flavor is simple and crisp with a malty body and a tickly hop finish. Overall, this is better than most Pilsners but I’m not a huge fan of the style. I give it high marks for a golden lager; definitely one of the best.

Not much head, disappearing quicly. Gold body. Tastes malty-bitter; otherwise very clean on the tongue. No aftertaste I could detct. Much better of course than its namesake from St. Louis. In its style, it is one of the best.

Fresh, crisp and clean. Enticing aroma that sets you up for a little more flavour than you actually get, dry malt flavour with a smattering of light fresh hops. A very pleasant, refreshing beer.

Clear golden yellow color. Thin white head. Acidic and malty aroma. Clean and crisp tang. Mild flavor with a hint of malt. A nice beer in this style.

Now this is a masterpiece! Budweiser is not even in the same league. Very refreshing beer with little to no aftertaste.

There’s no worry about confusing this with A-B’s brew. This pours a clear golden color with a sudsy white head. The aroma is of mild malts along with some grassiness. It doesn’t skunk on you when it begins to warm. It’s light bodied with mild malt flavors balanced nicely with the hops. Crisp clean finish with a touch of bitterness. Refreshing.

Color gold. Compact foam of medium persistence. Good perlage and fizzy in mouth. Light bitter.
