Jun 16, 2007 Had in US bottle (Czechvar), purchased at Bottleworks, Seattle. Aroma is sweet malt forward, with some corny notes and light hop flavor aroma. Appearance is clear golden yellow, with an even white head, very bubbly. Flavor is very crisp, with some sweet malt, and what seemed to be some slightly oxidized notes, lightly bitter, sour, with low aftertaste. Mouthfeel has a strong carbonation bite, slightly grainy, with a dry clean aftertaste. Overall, the beer was slightly disappointing from what I’d heard, but I might have been drinking an older bottle; may re-rate when I’m by someplace that has it on draught.

Jun 12, 2007 This hit me like a brick when I was in Czeske Budejovice with the late Prof. Helgeson- like a wonderful Euphoric brick!
I have yet to taste a better beer - although be careful, it doesn’t age well, it is worth a trip to CZ just to taste the original.

Jun 9, 2007 Bottle, 33 cl. Deep clear golden, medium fluffy white head. Bready malts, some butterscotch notes, and vague hints of floral hops. Medium bodied and smooth. Starts off pleasantly sweet, and a moderate yet firm bitterness balances this beer very well.

Jun 8, 2007 (Bottle 50) Incredibly beautiful full golden colour with a rather large head. Fresh nose of barley. Lots of sweet malt and less bitternes thanother chzech lagers. Velvety soft body.

Jun 7, 2007 Rated 6/1/07: Impressive pour, nice light gold color with a big frothy white head and layers of lacing. The carbonation is absolutely insane, I’ve never seen anything like it. Airy malt aroma light and faint, low hop presence. Filling mouthfeel, real creamy and still delicate. Taste came across as rather standard, nicely balanced very mild just like the aroma. Not too much character involved here but it’s a good easy drink. Of course my bottle states best before 10/2006 so perhaps the flavor and aroma has mellowed a bit, but I still find this to be a good lager.

Jun 3, 2007 Bottle in at Grand Hyatt Berlin. Golden colour. Foamy head. Skunky nose. Hoppy taste. Prickly. Smooth finish. Enjoyable. Surprised I hadn’t tasted this one yet.

May 30, 2007 Golden colour with a white head which dissapears extremely quickly. The aroma is light, sweet notes of malts and bready notes of hops. Good flavour, with malts of front, some bready middle and a light note of bitter hops at the end. Light body and good balance make the drinkability of this beer pretty damn good.
