I had this on tap in Germany. I thought it was a fairly good beer. Went down smooth.

500ml can served in an ordinary glass. A: Pours a clear yellow to orange (golden) color forming a one to two fingers bubbled and aired white head. Medium retention and few lacings formed and left in the glass S: Refreshing in the nose. Strong notes of Saaz hops which is grassy and citrus. Notes of sweet grains T: Refreshing in the mouth too. Grainy upfront. Pale malts and caramel malts. Strong notes of Saaz hops. Again, grassy and citrus. In overall, a dry taste with a nice hops bitterness punch M: Light body and good carbonation. Grassy and lemony aftertaste O: Very good drinkability. Not as good as Urquell, but still a classic Czech Pilsener [ BA Review @ 2/19/2010 ]

Pours clear straw with a short, short-lived white head, minimal lacing (3/5). Nose is pale malt and grassy hops (6/10). Taste is mild to moderate sweet followed by mild bitter (7/10). Light crisp body, prickly carbonation dropping to moderate, with a dry bitter finish (3/5). As lagers go, not bad at all. The Czech pilsner is light, crisp, and dry, with none of the rice or corn adjunct flavours that make North American lagers so utterly vile. You can see the family resemblance, sure - but this is the successful cousin, not the unemployable layabout in the wife beater. I could see drinking a very large number of these under a tent somewhere, preferably with live music and large chunks of some mammal or other being singed over open flame. Needs to be drunk cold and quick - it does not improve with warming, or if one lets the carbonation drop. (12/20)

0.5l bottle from Tesco Filakovo (Slovakia). Medium white head with neutral sourish aroma, maybe some bread. Minimal sour taste. Quickly vanishing. The beer itself is a balance of moderate bitterness and maltiness. Everything is very moderate in this beer, almost tasteless, I would say. Palate is moderate, too. I usually like that, but this time it is not convincing. Aftertaste is neutral. Neutral watery core lager taste. Maybe maltiness is a bit more present. In he end, some honey shows up. Strange, because this is a very neutral beer, very moderate taste, on the brink of becoming boring, but sort of well composed and balanced. No mistakes but not much soul either. Still kind of acceptable.

Blonde dorée assez pâle. Mousse blanche disparaissant rapidement. Arômes de malt, céréalé.. On ne sent pas d’houblonnage. Rien de spécial. En bouche similaire, trčs peu d’amertume. Se rapprochant plus d’une pale lager que d’une pilsener. Plutôt déçu vu les notes.

Czech lager is the best in the world. Lovely stuff. Mild, well balanced and not as bitter as some Pilsners. Taste is grain and bread with a mild metallic edge. Dry crisp finish. Very enjoyable lager. Although I still think I prefer Staropramen in regard to Czech beer.

The best Czech lager you can possibly buy outside Czech(?) I haven’t yet drink any better lager. Nice medium body, round sweetness with beautiful Saaz aroma hop throughout. Almost no head retention, though.
