Gary (38), Visiting/On vacation, France Jan 7, 2009 This was from a can and not the lame clear bottles. I must say I really enjoyed it without the rank arse ’skunky’ vibes. Less pedestrian or something. The hops are allowed to be alive and free . A floral, spicy -dry palate-juicy maltiness ! A creamy mouth feel is cool.! Maybe some pineapple ester from the yeast! Odyn (153), New York, USA Jan 4, 2009 Fairly straightforward Czech lager. Drinkable, but not distinctive. Of all the ones I tried over there, this was about how I remember them tasting. Sort of sweet for the style, but not bad. Golden color and sort of yeasty on the nose. Finishes cleanly. Travlr (427), Washington, Washington DC, USA Jan 3, 2009 Nicely hopped example of a decent lager, very refreshing. Pales in comparison to other Czech lagers and pilsners, but still very drinkable. martinboer (118), Amsterdam, Netherlands Jan 3, 2009 Jun 3, 2007
Bottle in at Grand Hyatt Berlin. Golden colour. Foamy head. Skunky nose. Hoppy taste. Prickly. Smooth finish. Enjoyable. Surprised I hadn’t tasted this one yet. efrumtheidiot (180), Maryland, USA Jan 2, 2009 pours a clear gold with a foamy white head. bubbly. grassy aroma with subdued citrus notes. taste is a nice balance of hop/malt, with the citrus of the hops coming on strong at the beginning and the malt smoothing it out later on. notes of bread and lemon are there, though it’s not an insanely complex beer. super refreshing, an awesome session brew. finish is the return of the bitter hops. nice prickly carbonation and a somewhat creamy mouthfeel. mid-bodied. used to drink this all the time when i lived in prague, and obviously it’s MUCH better/fresher over there, not to mention cheap as hell (about 80 cents for a .5L bottle, or $1.25 in a bar). if you buy it over here (US), i can imagine you’d be upset about the cost for what you get. but overall i think it’s an awesome brew, and a great intro for newbies.
