COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The starting procedure for the production of Yeast Lager is the same as for the Budweiser Budvar Czech Premium Lager. The difference is in the fact that before filling a certain volume of “rings” are added into the finished beer for consumption quality. A new culture of brewing yeast in the best condition and new ratio of extract is added into the beer. In the transport package (KEG barrels) there is a further level of fermentation of beer which brings better sensory quality and higher biological value. The Budweiser Budvar Yeast Lager contains lice culture of yeast, so therefore has a higher content of amino-acids and B complex vitamins. It also contains a higher ratio of high-molecular proteins which cause a stronger fullness of flavour. The flavour is stronger up to very strong which is positively reflected in the more fresher flavour of ringed lager. Experts will also feel the light flavour and aroma of yeast. The foam is rich, compact and very stable. The colour of the beer is golden-yellow, the presence of yeast in beer causes the beer to be non sparkling, but clear up to a light opalescent. The ringed lager is delivered exclusively into selected gastronomic operating units which fulfil the strict conditions for maturing of beer in KEG barrels because before tapping they must stand in an unchangeable position for a period of at least one week at the temperature of 6-8 °C.

0,5l can. Weak hoppy aroma. Not too malty, some sweetness strings there. Easy go, short aftertaste.

On tap at the Lord Clifden, Birmingham. Pleasant enough I suppose. Yeast seemed to rob it of some bite, without necessarily adding any flavour. Looked normal.

Keg, Criterion, Leicester. Golden with carbonation and a white head. Aromas are yeasty and nutty with light soap. Floral with hints of lemon. Base biscuit with grain. Flavours are clean grain with soap and yesst. Strong carbonation with additional yeast spritz. Thin lemon with some nuttiness. Burp inducing but OK.

330ml bottle poured into Leffe chalice, golden, head was tiny and faded fast, no lacing. Aroma was red cabbage and parmesan which to me suggests it was made with Saaz hops. Tasted grass and earth. The finish was slightly bitter and earthy. Mouthfull was slightly thick, fairly smooth, less carbonation than expected. Overall passable as a Czech style Pils, could have been a bit more interesting though.

Draught. Pours a pale gold, with a white head. Malty aroma, citrus, honey, hops, bread. Dry, low to medium body, medium bitterness, balanced CO2. Malty, yeasty taste, spicy, citrus, hops, bread, quite astringent. (2012-09-10)

Yeasty and a bit grainy, quite dry but with decent hop character - enjoyable lager.

Keg in Draft House Northcote. Pours clear amber, white head. Nose is grassy, straw, sweet grainy malt. Taste is less dry then usual Budvar lager and has some nicer grass and straw notes, alongside grainy malt, and some fruitier lager hop notes. Definitely a shade above the standard Budvar.
