evilempire (114), sheffield, South Yorkshire, England Mar 5, 2008 draught at Moldava station, Ceske Rupublika. A smooth, dark, roasty flavoured beer, with a fairly dense, lasting, head. actually somewhat similar to a strong mild, with a coffee & chocolate aftertaste. certainly preferred this to any of the brewery’s pale offerings. tasted all the better for costing 35p, a tenth of the price in most UK pubs
Ober (402), Best, Netherlands Oct 4, 2008 On draught. An almost black colored beer, with a beige thick head. It disappears quickly. The aroma of dark malts, some coffee and chocolate. The taste is chocolate bitter, some coffee, dry and roasted malts. The aftertaste is pleasant dry bitter. tomer (183), Israel Oct 4, 2008 0.5L bottle, Small quickly diminishing head, dark brown almost opaque but with some lighter taints. Aroma mainly of sour barnyard with a touch of caramel. Flavour made of bitter roasted coffee, almost no sweetness which make for an extremely dry beer. Feels a little light and watery, could have been a little heavier. swoopjones (1179), Buffalo, New York, USA Oct 1, 2008 On tap @ U Medvidku, Prague. Dark brown/black pour. Roasted malts aroma. Raoasted chocolaty malt taste, some coffee & toasted malts. Smooth & not bad at all Rune (1811), Tromsř, Norway Sep 8, 2008 500ml bottle at home, courtesy of Finn. Pours a tight, beige head over a deep, rosewood body. Satisfying aroma of roasted malt. Plenty of roastiness in flavour backed by the sweetness of cocoa and some gentle bitterness to a rather short ending. Flat carbonation and medium bodied (07.09.2008). DSG (867), Yuvalim, Israel Sep 1, 2008 Updated: Sep 2, 2008Bottle. Quite a good-looking beer of dark brown color with a big beige head that diminishes slowly. Aroma of some roasted malt, caramel and coffee notes. Sweet flavor with nice maltiness, caramel, some roastiness and some dark bread and coffee notes. A lingering drier finish, quite bitter, with light Saaz hoppiness. Medium-bodied, but could use a bit more body. A good Dunkel, I enjoyed this one almost as much as I enjoy the regular Budvar.
