500ml bottle. Dark reddy brown, rich froth for a head. Roasty and hoppy aroma. Wickedly bitter hoppy taste fights with punchy dark burnt malt taste for your attention. Don’t get me wrong, this is a well balanced fight. Anyway neither wins until the end of the aftertaste, as the bitterness survives longer. What’s this? The burnt malt wants a rematch?...

Bottle the cave. Aroma is roasted barley, dough and malted seeded bread, pale malts, caramelt and week coffee. Taste is similar baggish nature, good creamy mouthfeel once its warmed up.

This was my last beer on the trip, with dinner Praha 6 Budvar resturant. A very pleasant .3L with the Gulash. The medium dark body had some nice grainy bitterness to it. Hops present thruout. A quick sweet finish with a hoppy aftertaste. Nice to have it from the tap. I would have had more if I didnt have to catch an early flight the next morning.

Blackish-brown with an off-white head of film. Sour aroma of a soggy piece of toasted dark rye. Mild sourness accompanies roasty malt flavor, sort of like weak, black coffee that’s no longer fresh. That’s not a bad thing, in this case. Light, sweet touch on the finish before bitterness kicks in, dry finish, with a malty-bitter aftertaste. Mouthfeel is lively and dry, a nice thing considering so many dunkels and schwarzes tend to run thin and wet. Not an exciting beer, but solid, sessionable, and it has some character.

Bottle, Dodgy Deli, Oxford. Rather dark brown with ruby highlights, abundant sticky tan head. Dry charred toast, sawdust, just a bit of herbal hops underneath. Soft smooth roast flavor. Sort of a one note roast character, like french roast coffee, but it’s a nice note. Just a touch of clean bitterness, abrupt finish.

Dark clear look with a collapsing white head. Vague aroma of sweet malt, with some even weaker notes of roasted malts and something smoked. Seem overly carbonated. Flavor is refreshing with abit of bitter hops and some roasted notes.

Bottle at Benny. Almost black with a beige head, some lacings. Aroma moderate malty (chocolate, roasted, caramel), light hoppy. Flavor light sweet and bitter. Watery.
