Prémiový tmavý ležák doplňuje tradiční nabídku piva z pivovaru Budějovický Budvar, n. p. od roku 2004. Je vyroben stejným postupem jako originální světlý ležák, za použití nejvybranějšího žateckého chmele, moravského sladu, vody čerpané ze 300 m hlubokých artéských studní a tří druhů speciálních barevných ječných sladů: mnichovského, karamelového a praženého.

Charakterizuje jej výrazně tmavá barva, suchá, jemně hořká karamelová chuť bez dominance sladkosti. Vůně je delikátní po praženém sladu.

Bottle.looks great. Black with tan head. Impotent coffee nose. Taste is marginal coffee, caramel with a nice mouthfeel. A fine beer that could do with more body. It’s no Dark Kruso.

From a 500ml bottle on 2/8/2011. Pours an extremely dark amber with big creamy head. Has a pleasant malty aroma, with a touch of chocolate. There’s quite a bit going on flavour wise - a big dollop of roasted malt, chocolate, a bit of coffee, some smokiness and a firm bitterness. A very enjoyable dark beer.

50 cL bottle, Scandic Hotel, Kuopio. Pours dark brown with a small creamy tanned head leaving lace. Aroma is very nice; roasted malts, fruity, sweetish and hoppy. Lean velvety medium body mouthfeel. Flavour is malty, roasted, chocolate, fruity, bitter and slightly sweet. Finishes not too bitter with a nice roasted touch.

Good dark colour. Aroma has some light roast but also spicy hop and a slight caramel, burnt caramel note. The mouthfeel is medium, more full than the regular pilsner as you would expect. There is a good malt flavour with a light roast edge that makes it interesting. Overall I quite enjoyed this beer and great euro dark lager.

500ml bottle. Very deep but level layer of light brown foam sits above a dark black base. Aromas are pleasant but not overly intense or overpowering. Flavour lets it down a bit, too thin and watery and light on the palate.
