COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Prémiový tmavý ležák doplňuje tradiční nabídku piva z pivovaru Budějovický Budvar, n. p. od roku 2004. Je vyroben stejným postupem jako originální světlý ležák, za použití nejvybranějšího žateckého chmele, moravského sladu, vody čerpané ze 300 m hlubokých artéských studní a tří druhů speciálních barevných ječných sladů: mnichovského, karamelového a praženého.

Charakterizuje jej výrazně tmavá barva, suchá, jemně hořká karamelová chuť bez dominance sladkosti. Vůně je delikátní po praženém sladu.

Good dark colour. Aroma has some light roast but also spicy hop and a slight caramel, burnt caramel note. The mouthfeel is medium, more full than the regular pilsner as you would expect. There is a good malt flavour with a light roast edge that makes it interesting. Overall I quite enjoyed this beer and great euro dark lager.

500ml bottle. Very deep but level layer of light brown foam sits above a dark black base. Aromas are pleasant but not overly intense or overpowering. Flavour lets it down a bit, too thin and watery and light on the palate.

On Tap. It is a smooth textured, tasty dunkel. It really hit the spot on a hot summer’s day.

500ml bottle from Dan Murphy’s. Dark brown pour with a medium beige head. Nose is toasted malts with caramel and coffee notes. Flavour is sweet malts with a slight bitter finish. Easily drinkable with a low carbonation and a light-medium body. A bit too sweet for my liking.

Pours dark brown, almost black, with a large lasting head. Nose shows lots of rich dark malt with nutty notes, chocolate, cola and spicy hops. Similar flavours, lots of nutty and bready malt with cocoa underneath. A bit cloying. Finishes with a mild roasty bitterness. Carbonation is a bit full on, body feels a bit watery.

Test vom 30.1.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,12,13,13,12,13 - 12,70

50cl bottle. Pours opaque black with a good head, most of which disappears quickly. The nose has chocolate and some smokiness. The taste has lots of chocolate and maybe some grapes. The palate has a rich texture, quite a big structure and it is quite clean. Overall, a very rich but balanced beer. Why do they have to put ’budweiser’ on the bottle? It doesn’t make sense.

Bottle. Pours dark brown, with a creamy head quickly receding head. The aroma is very pleasant but not overpowering, with sweet caramel malt, light notes of smoke and a very light hint of the saaz hops in use. Flavour is of sweet, lightly roasted malts and some smoke that sticks in the finish.

Light tan head, fades quickly, over a dark mahogany beer. Smells predominantly of the malts, toastiness with chocolate and caramel but there is also some spice there from the hops. Medium body with up front flavours from the hops dominating with the sweeter malt flavour showing up later. Nice easy drinking beer, I’d buy it again.
